I'm curious, since this is a gas impingement design, how much if at all, does the gas affect you when firing? I have a poor frame of reference, unfortunately, as I've barely fired an AR-15 and I've heard that rifle can also have some gas blowback.

On this rifle, not much, most of the gasses are expelled out the sides as you can see in the video. It's more of the concussive forces that pose a problem since the brake/compensator combo is extremely effective. I think I might've ran some people off when I brought it over the rifle range after filming lol

@@PhoenixPhart Well that's good to know. If I was in the position to get a semi auto milsurp, the Hakim is top of the list for me. As to the concussive force, just imagine if these were ever NFA items. I wonder how well that brake would work in full giggle?

@@eisenkrieg553 Hell, you see it in semiauto now. If you're not holding it properly, it'll actually push the muzzle downward: I think it'd definitely be extremely effective on a full auto.

Believe it or not, that metal wire isn't a charging handle: but the case deflector. This poor, shallow stamped nubs on the sides of the outer sleeve are where you're supposed to manipulate it. Too many people, my dad included, get chunks of fingers taken out from using the deflector as a charging handle. Also I need to dial the gas in, last I remember that thing was tearing brass cases up, or it has a broken or messed up extractor tearing rims.

Mine kicks out the cases so hard that it dents them badly and I reload. Yes I have the value turned at it's lowest setting. is that a common?

Check your gas setting! It might be undergassed and not providing enough gas to cycle properly.
