Absolutely love Dean R. Koontz. Midnight is really good. My very favorite one is Watchers with Strangers and Twilight Eyes close seconds. His Odd Thomas series has such an interesting main character and stories. His books as a whole mix genres, with horror, sci-fi, thriller/conspiracy, mystery, romance, spirituality elements.

Midnight is one of my favorite Koontz books. Prime material from his golden age. The characters were...alright, but I also found it really atmospheric, and he actually threw in some interesting commentary in there as well, which I appreciated. One of his best, imo. :)

Midnight by Dean R Koontz is very good. It reminded me of Resident Evil 2, only, instead of zombies it's... I loved Watchers too. My favourite, however, is definitely Phantoms. That's a great book.

It always surprises me that Koontz has outsold King and by a wide margin. I've never read a single book by Koontz and for no particular reason other than I've not the chance to. My TBR beiNg what it's been since the 90s, there's never been room for Koontz. I don't like horror really at all, except for Stephen King, who is my favorite author next to Ken Follett and I'll confess, Sidney Sheldon. Stephen King's writing of horror has always captivated me in a way that no other author has, and I've tried a few (Lumley) and put those books down just about as quick as I picked them up. Needful Things and IT were the books that made me into a Constant Reader. I was 10 - 11 years old when I read Needful Things and this was by a kid who was ADD and failed to even comprehend The Hatchet (which I would love in later life). But I was able to understand Needful Things perfectly, and the idea that I was reading something that I shouldn't, something so R-rated, made it that much more interesting. The book changed my life, especially as a student. I pretty much became an A student in everything but math. Looking back I think I matured because of Needful Things and then especially by the time I'd read IT. Anyway, I might consider Koontz down the road, I know he's good. At every Half Price Books I visit there are at least double the available books of King. I don't know why that surprises me, but it does. And not that it matters, just something of note.

There's a shit-ton of Dean Koontz hardbacks in my local Bank branch in the charity book section thing. I should probably buy them at some point just to add to the library. But read some of his stuff as a kid and wasn't very impressed with them to be honest 🤘

Watchers was the first of his books i ever read. Probably over twenty years ago or more now. I love watchers, lightning, odd Thomas, servants of twilight. He's written too many to mention. Strangers isn't bad either

"There were too many characters" says the author of an epic fantasy series. :D Yes, I realize that there should be a character/page count ratio that sometimes Dean exceeds. I just wanted to point out the irony.

As long as the story turns every 4-6 pages (Ken Follett).

I think I read Midnight while I was still in high school but don’t remember much about it other than it was in hardback at the public library. Or maybe I’m thinking of Lightning…

"I'm not the smartest guy......" So says the dude who's written and published three doorstops of a fantasy trilogy. Sure thing Mr. Durfee.
