I use the tone knob exclusively from the 3:00 position and higher because that's 'parity' high end to my ear. If you leave it at noon, that is a high-end cut. The gain structure is very classic and amp-like, it's an incredible rhythm tone for a two guitar mix.. This and the WA Iron Horse (RAT) are the two distortion flavors that I keep in constant usage and have for the last 6-7 years.

Yeh, I found that you can use the tone knob pretty high without it getting fizzy, which is unusual for a drive pedal. I had no idea the Iron Horse was RAT based, a friend of mine offered to lend me one of those to try. I'll have to see if he still has it.

I found it worked best with a very big delay sound on things like the Comfortably Numb style solo’s. Its probably the fuzziness of it that makes it work. It’s definitely not an every song pedal!!!

The amps I have are quite dark already and so are my guitars, so I think for me this was the wrong combination, but with the right setup I can see it working. It certainly felt nice to play on, lovely and squashy. EVERYTHING sounds better with huge delay! Haha!

I thought it was quite an old school cool sounding pedal, in a good way. And if your super stank face is anything to go by, you liked it. 👍🏻

Yeh, it's a nice inexpensive drive sound. Haha! 'Stank face', I need to keep control of that! (Sorry about the slow reply, had to change out a fan on my computer.)

There's an internal 18v switch if you didn't know.

Yes, I knew.

They should just call it the ZZ Top box.

I didn't think of ZZ, I could have gone for one of the grooves off the 1st album!

What about the 9 or 18v internal switch? In my opinion it affects the tone drastically
@BenFletcherGuitar10 ай бұрын
I like compressed sounds, so preferred the 9v.

Have you tried the EHX analogizer?
@BenFletcherGuitar10 ай бұрын
I haven't, I had to look that up as I'd not heard of it. Interesting concept. Probably not something I need, as I don't use a very big pedalboard and my sound is plenty warm enough, but you've got to hand it to EHX for being constantly creative.

I have an idea, just get any OD pedal and turn down the tone if you want the same effect?
