Eid Al Adha marks the commencement of the holy pilgrimage of hajj for Muslims, it is also when we do qurbani (sacrifice), this is from the time of Prophet Abraham Peace be upon him and Prophet Ismail AS when god ordered Abraham to sacrifice his only son and in the last minute Ismail AS was substituted for a ram, for this reason Muslims do the qurbani every year and the meat is then distributed to family, friends in the community and the less fortunate.
