In one of the lectures we learned that the lesson of eidul adha is that it is our strong attachment to something temporary/worldly (eg. children, spouse, wealth, career, etc.) that we actually need to sacrifice. Thus when Ibrahim a.s. finally let go of his strong attachment to his son in order to obey God, He showed His Mercy. Allahua’lam.

I think people do not do research by their selves and start to indulge in a conversation which is totally one sided. Muslims think the story was falsified that the roles were reversed for Isaac and Ismael. Even though the Bible and Old Testament version says Ismael's decedents will also become a mighty and vast nation and will be blessed with wealth in Arabia. Which the Old Testament and Bible turned out to be correct in the sense that now and overwhelmingly vast majority of Arabia shares a religion and culture and has massive oil reserves. However the inheritance of the Promise Land went to Isaac's descendants. Which also turned out to be true in the sense that the Jewish People have the state of Israel now even though it isnt the true Kingdom of Israel.
