Remember when I first learn exponential in high school, the teacher did not explain why exponential is important and what it can do other than give it computational rules and function graph. The whole math and physics became disaster in my high school time. I am jealous that young students or engineers have excellent math video like this one about the topic rising in pre calculus.

I find interesting why some people do believe there are two kind of interests. A linear one, also called simple interest, and the "it is too difficult to understand" one, also know as compound interest. Since the only kind of interest that really exist is the compound one. The simple interest problem is a particular arrangement of the base interest problem without reinvestiment of equivalently, paying the partial debts each period.

Yeah, when I learned about compound interest when I was a kid, and it made a big impact.

While compounding interest is absolutely true, the professor's big flaw is failing to also factor in compounding decay simultaneously. In finance we take this into consideration. However the general population is sold just the compound version of growth not decay due to inflation. For example, currently inflation is running a little over 8%; therefore, compound bank interest at 5% not such an easy mathematical problem. The value of the currency decreases faster than the interest from the bank. And such is the problem of the currency 💲 of United States since establishment of the Federal reserve back in 1913. It's Exponential currency decay that won not compound interest.

I believe that is why AI will become that last moment explosion of growth in almost every aspect of what we’ve achieved so far

Hmmmm the return for banks on credit goes a looooong way. ~15% APR on the very least, and the irony is that it increases for those who can no longer afford it. Exponents can be murderous as much as they are beautiful
