We had an abandoned gold mine to explore when we grew up, but we sure kept our eyes peeled for any loose rocks. I can totally understand the fascination but middle of the night? Not a good time to be wandering about.

As long as Colorado continues to enforce the "fence out" laws, this will continue. In other words, people can sit in your yard or walk thru your property or business all day long unless you fence them out. This is an ancient cattle law that continues to be bad news. The cattlemen cut barbed wire in order to avoid the law. It doesn't benefit anyone.

I have been to a few missile silos and never ended up in anything but repugnant standing water. Scary stuff. But kids these days are not made of rubber. They are made of glue. As they used to say.

These sites are very well known among the locals. This particular site was probably the least guarded and most accessible. FYI, the "entrance" you see is not the main entrance. This tunnel lead to a huge diesel fuel tank that has since been removed. The real entrance is sealed up with 1 to 3ft thick concrete hatches.

I think if someone had found before the teens, they would have possibly been living there. Like tunnels in New York and tunnels in Vegas. Now I’m curious how far the tunnels go especially if there are railroad tracks.

Just more "teens" exploring "abandoned" places that belong to someone else. For some reason, if you simply apply the "abandoned" word to just about anything, teens think this gives them absolute permission to enter. Take for instance the teen that was wandering around in an unfamiliar area and found an "abandoned" antique car. So, he climbed in and was marveling at how well preserved the interior was, when the owner walked out of Walmart and told him to get out!

Hahah I could have rescued those kids faster than they did, I know that abandoned nuclear missile silo like the back of my hand. You would have to be one special person to fall in and get critically injured there…. It’s actually sorta hard to fall anywhere in there if you pay attention…I’ve been through the whole facility more times than I can remember at this point, with groups of people (and the deepest accessible parts in the silo) Heroic rescue just sounds silly to be honest. Those kids ruin another great abandoned place to explore just like when one fell and got injured at the gates rubber factory. If you want to see more on the history or layout of it look up Deer trail Titan 1 missile silo.

@@GnarlyWafflethe main commenter seems to be a little full of himself, but he is right in a sense. I’ve been through it a couple times and seen everything in it, I doubt they stood on something and it fell, there is only one spot where you can fall that deep when inside the silo and if you have a bad flashlight or you aren’t paying attention it’s easy to walk right off the ledge and fall down the shaft you just climbed up the stairs for.
