@Felisha they are working on this issue. they realize it is a thing and happens more often than we are told. the best thing a kid can do is be persistent and to keep calling, then they are forced to be concerned. it just depends on the operator, some are better with children than others. im sorry you had that experience.
@curiousnerdkitteh4 жыл бұрын
@Felisha That's terrible! Also another reason prank calling emergency numbers is an awful thing for people to do and there should be more awareness raised about this. But I feel that your story is an eye-opener to operators to never give up on a caller in case it's a real emergency. Hopefully people have been better trained since then because that's really tragic! :(

Felisha Maybe that’s why a lot of people now train their kids on what to say. I know a family that has a script posted on the door for their kids to read if they ever have to call 911. @Issa Wheeler DUDE I’m an American who believes people can shit on the government if they want to. There was a point in time where the British killed Americans (before they considered independent and Americans) because they spoke out against them and spread anti government propaganda. The British I’m sure believed that they were giving the Americans a good life and thought the people who spoke out against them should be punished. So, when Americans became independent they made sure to include free speech in their laws. People can spread whatever propaganda they want for a reason. America doesn’t ”give” people a better life. People work hard, Make their own damn money, and build their own damn empires here. American law gives you the opportunity to do many things that other countries might not allow, like use of free speech, but people give themselves a better life, or the people around them who care about them do.

Seeing videos of American people get arrested for jaywalking really confuses me. In my country, even when you're about to cross a multi-laned avenue, you just don't go from the crossing. You look left, then right, if there are cars coming you look for a gap/calculate the time they need to reach your spot (or not, if you're a brave one) and just run like you're being chased by some crazy murderer with an axe.

@patriciainportland55673 жыл бұрын
@Toby Allis The diversity I reference here is Trevor, who lived in another country, making humourous comparisons to what he's experienced here in the US. These differences are refreshing and insightful. If I am around, watch, listen to people who look like me and have had the same/similar experiences as me it can grow a bit stale. I enjoy both: same and difference. Diversity to me is experiencing directly and/or learning from others, like I did listening to Trevor, who experienced things I have not.

All societies are “weird” in one way or another. Many of us in the U.S., especially those who’ve traveled or have lived in culturally diverse cities, have picked up on some of our strange customs and predominant beliefs. And yes, our chickens are way too big. They’ve been genetically modified to grow really fast in a short amount of time. It’s actually pretty cruel, but government and big time ag lobbyists have played a significant role in keeping the public blind regarding where the food comes from (ag-gag laws). People are very detached and it’s frustrating. Overall, the United States is a wonderful country despite its cruel history (as is true with many countries). Things are changing, albeit slowly, but there is progress :)

I had the exact same thing, I grew up in Germany & coming to America when I was 18, was INSANE. I watched the news & they had a report on a local cat on tv - they have zero global coverage. In Germany you get global events first thing in the morning, like every news program was about global news & then local. In America, it's only local, it's really nuts. I did geek out the first time I ordered pizza. At the time Germany didn't have any pizza delivery, no food delivery, like unless you were assigned to a disability food delivery thing. So the first time I ordered pizza it was from Pizza Hut & they were like "What would you like?" and I was like ... "pizza!" and they were like "yea, what kind?" I was like ... "uh, what?" and they were so patient with me, bless her heart - patiently explained what pizza was & different toppings. It was the best food I ever tasted. That was 20 yrs ago I still love Pizza Hut, and the news is still fucked. I had the same exact issue with buffalo wings, I thought it was buffalo too. Bless you & thank you for speaking up on everything, you're appreciated. ♥
