I always encounter this stereotypes about russians being scary and it makes me sad. We are a nation of deeply depressed people, who have given up on trying, because it almost never worked out well. And there are a lot of people who just prefer to stay blind to that and be that kind of ruthless loud and angry individuals who Russia is known for. Yes, there's mafia and kgb, but really similar to America our country is ruled by a handful of rich and powerful people who mostly don't give a damn about anything except themselves. In Russia there are criminals and authorities, who are dangerous like in any other country. But the majority of people are just average human beings, who do their best to live a life and be somewhat happy with it. Stereotypes are fun and sometimes I enjoy movies with them, it's hilarious to see someone fail so miserably at portraying our country while being absolutely serious about everything being accurate and truthful. However it is concerning to see that almost anyone outside past Soviet Union countries will label russians as ruthless, crazy and aggressive. Because in all seriousness we are not, there is a reason why almost all of our famous literature is devastatingly tragic and depressing. We are much more similar with others, than you think, we also have hopes and dreams, and none of them include starting wars or bombing countries. So please, just be normal people around any nationality and do your best to be a decent and happy human being. If anyone ever reads this to the end, thank you fot hearing me out.

That’s what it is: sightseeing the misery of others to make you feel better. That’s the whole concept of all the embarrassing “docu-tainment” / “scripted reality” stuff that private TV channels feed to the lower classes, so we keep looking and comparing downwards to make us feel better about our own misery, and keep exploiting us. Same with a lot of the yellow press: make people feel better by feeding stuff we look down upon. Good Entertainment and Journalism makes you look up to people, makes you compassionate, and not look down. I stopped watching TV ten years ago. Internet allows me to watch better stuff and be manipulated only by the ones I trust / I like. The ones that make me look up!

Am from Germany: we had that topic in class once when I was around 12 years old and when I heard about it, I was just like „wait... that’s an actual thing people *do* when they go on vacation? Wtf?!?“ And then it was on to debunk all the bogus arguments one might come up with *for* doing that, like „travelling there will strengthen the local economy!“ (it doesn’t, it just strengthens the tourism and gives you cheaper tickets and can under circumstances ruin the local economy), „it gives you a new perspective on things, really!“ (for you maybe, but this is also humiliating for the people to go somewhere just to say or realize „oh, those poor, poor people“ while they are standing right next to you), „me visiting these places might make a difference“ (no... just, no...you just see it and that‘s it) and so on... And that was ignoring most of the deeper local political/social/economic issues there as a whole as well! But I guess most people who have enough money to be a tourist somewhere else but are also too cheap to really make it a really worthy and amazing vacation tell that to themselves to calm their own conscience and frustrations about it...

@Shiirene sims yikes man..? time is of the essence, tomorrow is such an uncertain concept anymore, better to know as much as possible, in my opinion! I haven't read it and was initially *kinda* bummed abt the spoiler but I decided it was so worth knowing, that now I will not waste time in obtaining and reading this book. Also important note, there are going to be places in the world that don't cater to your needs. It's just going to happen. And this wasn't malicious, if you didn't wanna know, I recommend for the future not to click comment threads like this. That's on you, that you failed to reasonably suspect there may be spoilers. Christ we got such bigger shit to worry about, why is this cuntry such a dumphole?

We can't go around assaulting people for having opinions that differ from yours. Perhaps that's ok to do in Uganda, but not (yet) in the U.S.A.!
@ragnarlarsen71883 жыл бұрын
@@one-eyedcharlie1230 in his defense, a lot of the people who hate this guy initiated the aggression. I'm personally a fan, but accept that comedy is subjective, non quantifiable, and an immeasurable concept. Now if I don't find someone funny, I say "Eh, wasn't funny to me. I get that you do, but the jokes just didn't resonate with me" instead people come here saying " This guy is stupid and so are you blah blah I need to be a big man on the internet because my parents didn't hug me enough so I'm gonna take it out on you" and that's, unfortunately, becoming the critical norm. I'd wanna slap those people too, because freedom of speech isn't your right to say whatever you want without consequence in America, it's the freedom from legislation that limits what you can say. Completely different concept, and too many people are being given hall passes to act like jerks because Americans don't understand what freedom of speech really is.
