pulse was so beautiful and magical it felt like the soundtrack to some sort of big open-world game with a heavy emphasis on exploration

Dear god, I think that Pulse is five beats over four beats in a single bar, a true poly-rhythm! I'm not 100% sure because my ear isn't all that good, but it really sounded like it in the last couple of measures where things simplified. If so, that is one hell of a difficult thing to do as an ensemble; it's pat your head and rub your tummy whilst someone hits you in the face with a burning Atlantic Trout hard.

Surprised so many people liked Pulse the best here. It sounds like a lot of major scales descending to me, starting at different places, kind of deconstructed. Atmospheric and purposely vague. The first piece was great once it got going and the third piece too, and very good musicianship throughout of course.
