Try to transfer your bank account uk money to transfast or exchange like Palawan or mhuiller so that you can get big amount and less charge rather than withdrawing from atm each withdwals has charges. Hope youre all fine and please take care secure your money or belongings bec you're new and it's a different place tho safe but take extra precaution, wear your mask and don't get to close to others. try to use Azimo it is a UK company. I tried to used that last year when I was on vacation. Just it takes a few minutes and money arrived at Cebuana Lhuillier. Just 3 euro transaction fee.

Surigao is more like a large town than a city. The nearest "true" large city to Siargao is Cagayan de Oro. That said, please make sure to wear masks. You'll be mingling with a lot of people while traveling.

Butuan and Cebu are much closer and Butuan is big.

@@ellecyj CDO is closer than Cebu and does not require a boat ride from Surigao. Butuan, like Surigao, is big, but it still feels more like a large town. Butuan doesn't have buildings taller than 10 floors as far as I know. CDO is the 10th largest city in the Phiippines, with a population 2x the size of Butuan, and 3x the density. It has 11 buildings taller than 60 meters, 8 have 15+ floors. The tallest has 29 floors, and is the first of three identical planned buildings. Based on access to goods and services, CDO is also much better than Butuan, given that it also has the 5th largest seaport in the entire country, and the largest seaport, period, in Mindanao. Nearby Laguindingan airport (shared by CDO and Iligan) also services more connections than Bancasi airport and delivers 2.5x more cargo.

I opened a HSBC Philippines account on a tourist visa here easily. You get a local bank account and debit card, max 50,000php per withdrawal (200k per day) and you can use all the BancNet/Megalink/ExpressNet ATMs without ANY fees at all - doesn't matter if it's China Bank, BDO, BPI, PNB or any of the others. It also makes finding more places for rent easier as you can use post-dated cheques which many Filipino landlords require.

Try to setup a joint BPI bank savings account and can withdraw 10,000 pesos twice a day on each bank card, one for each name on the account, so that is 40,000 per day. Also use Transferwise (in England) to transfer from your English bank account to your BPI (Bank of the Philippine islands) account. Probably any major Philippine bank has the same daily withdrawal amounts. Transferwise has the lowest fees and gives you the REAL exchange rate, all others including banks shave 1/2 more pesos off the real rate.

Its the same case anywhere else in the Philippines. If you go to remote small towns atms would be rare if none at all. But if you go to the city or bigger towns there are plenty of them. There are lots of atms available on big towns in Northern Samar, such as Catarman, Allen, Laoang among others. Northern Samar for me is even more progressive than many provinces in the Philippines.

Here in Indonesia they have waived all tourist and resident visa fees since February until early August. I hope you get a nice surprise and you find you have much less to pay than you think you will when it comes time to pay for your "overstay." Bro there's many ways to cash out there. you can also use coinsph. which lets you cash out Mlhuillier and LBC same day as well as Palawan Express. And even use crypto for large overseas transfers less than $1. I can also pay almost any bill in PH remotly from US cheaper than the locals.
