I just realize, the reason why Lena deeply mourned (more than b4) for the dead during this episode (just before the beginning of this clip) is because she initially thought that shin, raiden, theo, anju, and kurena were all already dead. The units shown on the cemetery bear their personal marking & callsign on it (with exception there's Fido in place for Grim Reaper's juggernaut).

Yea if you look into the song that was playing the name is "LilaS , Lena is looking at Shin" and the early lyrics roughly translate to "walking down this road with a bouquet of flowers" Which if you remember how S1 ended off at least from Lenas side the last thing she got from the 86 was Shins note "If you ever come to our final destination, please leave flowers" Just going off the song, the song is about Lena thinking the entire squadron was dead then breaking down knowing they're not only alive, but doing well for themselves.

She actually didn't give up on them. There are two reason for that, one she knew their names and looked for them on the stone but couldn't find them and two if she had given up she would have left their pictures in the box together with the other fallen, but she didn't. The memorial made her remember all the other fallen members of spearhead since their names are there, reminding her that it's far more likely for the squad to be dead than alive.

When I started watching 86, I thought it was gonna be light 😅 i randomly selected it with that outlook. And wheew boi, boiii. This anime made me feel things, and for an anime with only 23 episodes you’ll really grow to love and root for these guys and see how much theyve developed and you’re there through everything? It’s such an emotional rollercoaster. And this ending is just absolutely perfect, like yelling at my screen perfect, crying laughing and just overall perfect.
