You can "thank" Ronald Reagan himself for the change to our media. He and his team did everything possible under the Executive Branch to consolidate media ownership under fewer owners and strip out dissent (Reagan was a spokesman for General Electric before he became President). Later, the Republicans in both Houses of Congress wrote the Telecommunications Act (which Bill Clinton should have NEVER signed, he should have Vetoed it and let Republicans own it completely but now you know why Clinton not Hart was in the General Election, same reason that Clinton not Sanders was in (and lost) the General Election.

Kitty Kelley is a writer of great courage. I read the Nancy Reagan book, and later, her even more formidable task, the book about the Bush family. Both terrific books. She has made a remarkable contribution to the realm of biography. I admire Kelley for withstanding the pounding from the media, including that idiot Matt Lauer on “The Today Show.” For awhile, that slimy lowlife Lucianne Goldberg served as Kelley’s agent. She tried cheating her client out of royalties from European sales of the books. (Kelley discovered this by accident, book-shopping in London.) The case was eventually settled in Kelley’s favour.

For her to answer so freely, with no hesitation, and clear recollection on interviews, what was said, and by whole, one can only concluded, the truth comes quickly and easily, when it's coming from the truth. Kelly in her defending her work, proves she's gone through each fact and statement, with a fine tooth comb, with legal scrutiny, before she typed one word to be published. It may be salacious and gossipy, but I can say, it's true. Because a person is exposed as to their true nature, although unflattering, does not make it a lie.

I think it wasn't a secret that Nancy Reagan played a big roll in the Whitehouse. After He was shot she really took over. I don't think that is an insult either though. It shows she was strong and a woman needs to be president already. I am surprised she didn't do a book on Ronald. Nancy's story is small potatoes compared to her husband.

I must say I have always assumed Kitty Kelley wrote sensational expose’ stuff and was a light weight. It would be hard to imagine a more degrading low life way of referring to a woman and I think when being on the receiving end of such assessments Kitty Kelly can only rise higher in people’s estimation. She doesn’t have a “vicious smile” as that caller from Arlington claimed. She’s engaging and responsible in her approach to the people she writes about and she has every right to write about them and to be assessed in a fair and reasonable way.

People who criticise her get over emotional about their heroes but she purposely draws on as many interviews as she can to get to heart of her subject. The book is true , Nancy Reagan was a cold and calculating women . She was not kind and loving to Ronnie's two children with Jane Wyman . She plotted and schemed to meet Ronnie and trapped him into marriage. Allowed herself to get pregnant all the while knowing he was seeing other women . A lot of this stuff is mentioned in Patti Davis's book as well , and she wrote about three I think . All this stuff has been said by others . Kitty Kelly's book is more concise and detailed and well supported and documented . What fascinates me is how and why Ronald Reagan fell for this horrid creature after they were married , because he was certainly not in love with Nancy when he did marry her> Ronald Reagan actually admitted to his best friend and also best man at his wedding to Nancy , that he thought he was trapped into marriage by her . Just exactly when did they become the love of each others lives I dont know , but I always thought there was something extremely unnatural about their so called undying love for one and other This love, and according to their daughter Patti her parent's love for each other left no room to love anyone else even their own kids . Patti states in one of her books that you had to leave the room you entered if her parents were in it together , because they consumed all the oxygen in it , she said she felt she could not breath . A strange statement in deed .

00:12 "Date-raped a young starlet." That was pretty hot stuff then; it would be even now. Kelley should have done better research on the age of Selene Walters, who made the accusation against Reagan, because those who could point out Kelley had Walters' age wrong would try to throw out the whole story using that error. Do I believe the rape story? Yes, I do.

Elaine Marten, Hi Elaine, my uncle was in the music business for 30 years, you have to understand that in the 30's, 40's and 50's certain things were not spoken about. There was Image Consultants, Press Release Agents who fabricated Celebrities lives. Actors who hade bad reputations in the public like Richard Pryor was considered one of the most beautiful people in the industry, despite his drug problems, Richard was alway there for people he would never commit "Date Rape" and he gave 1/3 his money away to Charities, now, people like Ronald Reagan who hade a great Public Persona were considered a "CREEP" My uncle liked Goldie Hawn, Katharine Hepburn and Sidney Poitier because they did "NOT"due sexual favors to advance their careers and the Hollywood Insiders knew it. Many Artists were Gay and Lesbian but back then they were not open. Many Artists were Alcoholics in the 30's and 40's. Cocaine came in the late 50's and that is why when these books come out depicting Celebrities lives the fans get "IRATE" becaues they bought into a Good, Clean and Wholesome image of a man with a life that people envy and the Celebrities themselves do what ever it takes to keep up appearance. My uncle himself lost a lot of friends throughout his career to Drugs, Alcohol and Suicide. He moved out near Hawthorne, CA after he retired to get away from people in the industry.

You seem to be trying to gloss over the "date rape" situation. Does it really matter how old Walters was at the time? From PEOPLE Archives (available online): SELENE WALTERS SAYS: Kelley’s account of his late-night visit is essentially accurate, although he never forced his way into her apartment. “I opened the door. Then it was the battle of the couch. I was fighting him. I didn’t want him to make love to me. He’s a very big man, and he just had his way. Date rape? No, God, no, that’s [Kelley’s] phrase. I didn’t have a chance to have a date with him.” Walters says she bears Reagan no ill will, and has even voted for him: “I don’t think he meant to harm me.” She was raped.
