Welcome to The Valhalla Studio. Today we review the Einhell TC-TS 200 budget Amazon tablesaw, compare it and decide if it's worth buying.
In this video you see me directly compare a brand new Einhell TC TS 200 tablesaw to a second hand Rexon BT2500AE bought for £50 from a local market.
The Einhell was my first tablesaw and is a nice cheap entry level machine. It benefits from not having very much power, so most of the time, if you have bad technique, it just stalls instead of causing massive, potentially very dangerous, kickbacks. It gave me the chance to process some lumber, learning from mistakes as I go without as much risk.
After that, though, I don't see any benefit to it over a second hand larger machine for less money.
The first job I planned with it was to turn some scrapwood into a cutting board, hoping that I could do almost all of the job with just the saw. But as soon as I discovered the wood was cupped I threw the project out.
You will see much more of this of this tablesaw in the future.

Happy I could help. I hold onto the opinion that for some people this would be adequate. Small jobs, very part time hobbyists. But because of that, it could do with being safer, a bit more limited to small pieces. At the moment it's trying to be capable but is too cheap, making it inadequate when experimenting or trying to get better

I'm happy to hear that you were able to take value from the video and I'm glad I could help in some way. This saw is fine if all you plan on cutting is the odd 2x4 or sheets of MDF/Plywood. As soon as you are asking it to do more than that it starts to struggle. I would definitely recommend an older, bigger, hopefully cheaper second hand variety over the Einhell budget tablesaw! :)

Terrifying. I find the tablesaw to be a generally scary machine, especially with my hair! I've learnt a lot since though, about when it is and isn't good to use a fence, the benefit of a riving knife, all sorts. There are definitely safe ways to use it.

Came here after watching your previous vid about sinking the einhell into your table, since I was planning something similar. I'm now doubting continuing to use the einhell. Though I'm not even close to becoming a woodworker, I only use the einhell for small projects around the house 🤔

Hey! Thanks for clicking through! I'm torn when it comes to budget tools in general. Initially, I thought they're all much and such the same and I don't really need any bells and whistles, but the more experience I've gained the more I've learnt how wrong I was. Budget tools, particularly ones like tablesaws, are a little unpredictable. And when it comes to blades spinning at 5000+rpm, unpredictable isn't good. But not only that, I found it hard to use accurately. Hard to make the right cuts, adding variables making every job that much harder. A better tool will stay calibrated longer, will have features to make different cuts and angles easier, jobs will be easier overall and more accurate, and on top of it all, it will be safer. Machines like tablesaws take a lot of care and focus on technique to prevent something terrible happening, especially if they have a wobbly fence or haven't been maintained 100%. I use my tablesaw every day, meaning i have good habits and have gotten to know it, but it still terrifies me with every use. If I wasn't confident using it and only sometimes used it, then I'd want something with a Sawstop installed. I should do now, but at least I can rely on good regularly practiced technique. I'm torn. To someone who only dabbles I wouldn't know to recommend an affordable little tabletop tablesaw, or a big second hand one with more features. I think it'll always be worth the money to buy something better than the einhell, even if it's only to be occasionally used. 100% happy I upgraded, even if it's significantly older. Long post, but not a light subject. Good luck with it all

I noticed that your Rexon table saw doesn’t have a riving knife which will help with kickback or a blade guard 😮

For sure! Using it without one gives me the fear, can't seem to find a replacement either so considering crafting one somehow. But I figure a combination of jigs and sleds might prevent the need for one. For the sake of the £50 that it cost me, I may end up keeping that as my "sled saw" and getting another, more modern one further down the line 👍

After that explosion, I won't be getting a table saw, any table saw. A mistake like that is so easy to make, and no doubt plenty of other mistakes are waiting to be made.

It's good to be cautious, that will keep you alert and focused on doing it safely. The saw by itself isn't dangerous, it's how it is used which makes the difference. There are many ways to use one dangerously and a few ways to do it safely. If you learn through trial and error then the odds are against you. KZbin has a lot of quality videos which explain safe ways to do certain tasks on a tablesaw. Doing research first is easier, safer and timesaving, because all you need to do is learn those few safe ways, then focus on repeating them. Looking back, when that happened, I was not using the correct method to make that cut. The small offcut should be on the underside of the blade, not on the topside, allowing it to be flung or pulled in. On the bottom side it would just rest on the table, safely. I reflect on this and learned my lesson. Using the big tablesaw still gets my heart going, even though I use it everyday now. I like it, it shows me that I still respect the danger, and I can use the heightened focus to ensure I'm using the correct method. And now, if I'm making a wierd cut I haven't made before, I'll youtube it first. Because sometimes the safest way might even be a tool other than the tablesaw. Anyway, good luck 👍

@@thevalhallastudio7255 Having the small off-cut on the table might not be any better. It might act like a wedge and jam the blade. If you add a sacrificial piece behind what you are cutting, that will at least block the off cut coming your way.

Smart solve! See, you're plenty smart to own a tablesaw safely. It's only those who don't look for methods like that who are in danger. I honestly don't make enough use of sacrificial pieces in general, just not made a habit of it. But I've plenty of MDF offcuts and it's smart so gonna make an effort to implement it into my process. Thanks for the tip 😀

The video doesn't show any Einhell machine usage, you just showed two crooked cut pieces of wood
@thevalhallastudio7255
@thevalhallastudio7255 Жыл бұрын
Haha yeah true, well except for the exploding zero clearance insert moment. And the crooked pieces weren't even cut crooked, they were cupped from the shop, so i actually showed exactly zero cuts! Haha. This video is just to give you my opinion, feedback and experience with the Einhell in comparison to a cheaper, older, larger piece of kit. You can take my word for it or not, plus plenty of people use these day to day with no issues. If you feel that the einhell is without flaws, or is worth the flaws for that price point then go for it. In my humble opinion, such a powerful tool shouldn't be so cheap. But that's just my two cents. Do you own one? Or gotten to use it? If so, what was your experience?
