In 1939, Einstein wrote the famous letter to Roosevelt admonishing him on the importance of nuclear research. It is said that the letter sparked him into action.

Fun fact that kinda blows my mind: my great grandma was the nanny for Leslie Groves when he was a kid. His parents introduced my great grandparents. His mom made the wedding dress that my great grandma and later my grandma wore at their weddings. And apparently one time my great grandma made a fancy cake for an event and Leslie grabbed and ate a handful of it 😂🤣

Leslie Groves was a rather big man, unlike Mat Damon's depiction. Big appetites, big voice, big persona.

speaks volume on the reverence Zimmer has in the public eye when people asume its him haha, but its actually Ludwig Goransson who is in my opinion the most exciting composer currently working in hollywood, he is Nolan`s new composer since Tenet, Zimmer seems to be busy with Villeneuve scoring the Dune saga.

The style of the music for both trailers is quite similar to that of Hans Zimmer. Note that this may not be the music used in the actual movie. Thus, we don't know who the composer is.

Florence Pugh is playing Jean Tatlock who was a lover of Oppenheimer. She refused to marry him and he ended up marrying Katherine Oppenheimer (though he may have continued the relationship after he was married...I believe that is debated). She's definitely worth researching as her personal story is pretty interesting.

Einstein wrote a letter urging the Allies they develop a program to build a nuclear bomb before the Nazi's did. Coming over from Germany earlier in his life, he knew the scientists they had and what Hitler was capable of pursuing.

Base on what I have seen this movie should win for best picture and should also be in the lead to win for best director and best actor. I don't know if it was Oppenheimer or another physicist who was trying to get the attention of the US government about the Nazis building a nuclear bomb, since he was not getting any attention he went to Einstein who wrote a letter to the President and that is how the Manhattan Project came about. Oppenheimer has a very sad story similar to Alan Turing. After the war because he saw the destruction of the bomb he didn't want to be remembered for it. He also refused to help in the making the Hydrogen bomb so because he knew some communists including his mistress played by Florecne Pugh in the movie, he was label a communists and lost his privileges and became hard to work in science field.

Hi. Thanks for sharing your review. Tom Conti is Albert Einstein. He knew Oppenheimer pretty well. Matt Damon is General Leslie Groves. He designed and built the Pentagon, and was put in charge of the Manhattan Project. His emotional moment in the trailer reflects the $2 billion burden he had to carry on his shoulders on overseeing the entire project. Oppenheimer was recruited by Groves, knowing he had the best physicist to handle the job and to bring in the best and brightest to realize the development of the "gadget," as it was known. The person who spoke with the German accent was Edward Teller, who worked closely with Oppenheimer in developing the atomic bomb, and would later be the "father" of the hydrogen bomb. The "near zero" chances of destroying the world was something all the scientists had in mind. Enrico Fermi was taking bets on the Trinity site about the chances of the entire atmosphere catching fire upon detonating the "gadget." Cillian Murphy's name is pronounced "Kill-ee-an." There is no K in the Celtic language, so every word or name with a C in it is pronounced as if it were a K. (As for the Boston Celtics pronounced with the C as an S is beyond me. One would think the huge Irish-American community in Boston would have raised a stink about it by now.) "Oppenheimer" is definitely on my "must-see" list. Thank you for letting me comment on your video. Nice job, by the way.

@@thestarsthemselves. It's an easy mistake. As I said, it doesn't help that the Boston Celtics is pronounced "Sell-tics." I have Irish heritage and I tend to be picky about such things. 🙂

Szilard/Teller/Wigner in 1939 prepared a letter for FDR regarding nuclear weapons, and got Einstein to sign it to give it more weight. This led ultimately to the Manhattan Project in 1942. Otherwise Einstein had no further involvement. The prequel is Einstein in 1905 and 1911 regarding E=MC^2 .. Szilard in 1933 regarding potential nuclear chain reactions with neutrons and the splitting of uranium in 1939 in Germany.

Jeez. You could have checked on Einstein. His role was, crucial perhaps, but scientifically minimal. He contributed nothing. It was perhaps crucial, as I said, because he signed the letter that Szilard and Teller wrote and sent it to Roosevelt. Einstein died in 1955 long after the war was over. He never came to Los Alamos but I think the scene that showed him was probably in New Jersey (like near the Institute for Advanced Study) which Oppenheimer ran from 1947-1966. You can tell by the trees that the Einstein scene was not Los Alamos. They look like east coast hardwoods, not the Pinons, Ponderosa, Poplars, Juniper, Aspen, and Cottonwood trees of Los Alamos. (indeed "Los Alamos" is usually interpreted as "The Poplars".)
