Einstein is a silly, smart, and popular parrot who loves to talk and entertain! He is famous for his impression of Matthew McConaughey, ( • Einstein thinks Matthe... ) NOT the "Einstein" that was featured on the TV show Animal Planet. He likes to talk on various "parrot approved areas" in our home, such as the kitchen drawer, the shower, kitchen chairs, napkin holders, and of course his play perches! Einstein is so funny. I think she really wanted you to fill up her water dish. My mom has an African Grey named Ali. Ali's cage is in my mom's kitchen--the eating area is my mom's office. So Ali can watch my mom cook and has a view of the living room. Ali will ask for the foods she wants and doesn't settle for just anything. If you give her something other than what she asks for, she'll throw it on the floor. It's amazing how many words she knows and will use--like all sorts of food. Even if she doesn't see that food, she'll still ask for it. We'll be sitting in the living room talking or watching TV and Ali will chime in with a comment that shows that she understands the conversation. Like she'll talk in my dad's voice if we mention him, even though he hasn't lived in the same house as Ali for several years. (it was extra tough when he died) We'll watch the news and when there's a story about someone being hurt, Ali will ask "is she ok?". She'll dance when there's music, etc. These birds are amazing.

Thank you! Einstein started talking at 17 months. Didn't say a whole lot until she said Gobble-Gobble-Gobble at Thanksgiving in 1998! Then she started saying everything! Do not react in any way when he says the cuss words and he will eventually stop when he is no longer reinforced for that behavior. Begin teaching him a song or some other new words and positively reinforce that new behavior. Learn more about Positive Reinforcement by visiting GoodBird (dot) com. It is what we use and it works! Thanks for watching. All parrot have the ability to talk, but not all parrots chose to talk or are not interested in talking. They can learn any language they are exposed to. Einstein actually says hot and cold in Italian. Search KZbin "Einstein Speaks Italian".

She understands much of what we say to her. Have you ever had a dog that get all excited when you say wanna go for a walk? Somethings we teach and she just repeats. Other things we just say and she pick up and starts to say them. She does learn to associate words with the same action. For example, she only says Good Morning in the morning. She knows the meaning of many of the food words. Wanna go outside, car ride, etc. She knows what these words are and uses them appropriately at times.

Aww that's so cute! I'm watching a show about parrots like this and how a lot of owners don't take care of them properly and get fed up with them and end up getting rid of them or putting them down for simply doing what birds do. Its very sad but it is great to see a parrot being treated properly who has a great bond with his owner. Its obvious that our the owner is willing to teach this parrot so much that he must spend lots of time with him. Very funny and sweet video!

I once read a story somewhere about one of these cheeky birdies that fled from his home in Texas...apparently to Mexico as it later turned out. Some years later he found his way back to his original owner...speaking Spanish hahaha

That is a different parrot. His name was actually Alex. He was called, "The Einstein of parrots" in a TV documentary about the Alex Foundation. Alex died in 2007. Our Einstein is alive and well and lives with us in Texas. (Visit her website) She was hatched in June '97. Your scratches were delivered! Thanks for watching Einstein!

That is just so amazing to think about. I could tell from watching the video that she knew what water was and what getting wet or taking a shower meant but just knowing that she understands that is incredible. My dogs love when I ask if we want to go for a walk but I cant imagine them replying in words "go for a walk?!" that must be an incredible joy each time you interact with her. You have a truly amazing animal!
