Wrexham Wellbeing Festival. 3rd July 2024.
Young people from 7 different primary and secondary schools across North Wales participated in our Wrexham Wellbeing Festival event at Wrexham University. They gave TEDx style talks on a variety of wellbeing-based topics, such as how screen time can impact mental health, the impact of stigma on wellbeing, and how climate change is affecting young people and their community.
-------------------------
‘The stigmas around varying big issues - bullying, mental health, disabilities, differences, and family issues. How do stigmas affect us?’
A stigma is a negative attitude or idea that results in social scrutiny towards a person or group based on mental, physical, or social differences. This talk will explore a range of different stigmas that the students have personally faced and will explore how their current selves have been affected, and how being stigmatized has impacted their future too.
The aim of the talk is to bring awareness to the stigmas that everyone can face so that we can start moving towards a society where everyone can be accepted regardless of their differences, disabilities, or background.
