He is very good! His name is Stefano. He has modeled for The Florence Academy of Art where I teach and have my studio for years and years. He is as professional as they get. Excellent model!

Always excellent. One question, which clay is this oil or water based?

This is water-based clay. I use oil-based clay for smaller stuff.

@@EirikArnesenArt is it air drying? if yes, how do you mange to keep it soft until the work is finished? Thanks for the reply. Really appriciate it.

This is great stuff! Thank you. But I'm wondering if this session is only about establishing the heights of a profile, why can't a clear picture, or a video be used? Will the camera lens distort those measurements greatly? Or is it because you plan on using the model a lot, and so you want to keep everything 1000% from life, start to finish? Thank you.

Thank you for the comment! A camera can distort things depending on lens, distance to subject, etc. There are a lot of factors. I plan on using the model a lot but I could certainly augment the process with images if I wanted to! If I wanted to I could just work from photographs. But it's a bit of a different experience, the camera doesn't see the way we see and it makes some choices for you. Both are good ways to work though! Having good reference at all is the most important. + I like working from life.

I have no money to join your patrion page so I guess I wont be getting involved. I am just starting to get into sculpturing and love it. but it does annoy me that everyone wants to cash in. If I get any good at this I,ll be doing tutorials completely free of charge to help those like me.

I can understand that sentiment! But when you've been at it for awhile and are trying to make a living doing it I think you'll come around and realize that one of the ways artists with hard skills can make a living is teaching, in order to make a living you have to charge. Selling your work is hard and one of the helpful things about teaching is that it is consistent. It's the unfortunate truth. I tried for awhile to make free tutorials only here on KZbin, but it just didn't pay the bills. I have almost 200 free tutorials that you can check out and probably learn a lot from on here. I remember starting out and looking for tutorials as well, it's good times, cherish them! You'll be 10 plus years into it before you know!
