FREI as an adjective means free BUT the verb FREIEN means to court or woo someone or even marry. I translated OB WIR UNS WIEDERSEHEN as If we'll meet again and as If I'll make it through because that's what he means in the song. With such and so much pain he's not sure he'll keep on living and thus be able to "see each other again" I appreciate your critic, just wanna be clear that my translation aims more for the MEANING and not so much for correct word by word definitions. I like the translation... in the description, he said it was more like a close interpretation. The problem with translating is that sometimes trying to maintain syntactic equivalence contradicts with trying to maintain semantic equivalence, so a single perfect translation may not be possible. Obviously, a word/phrase has different ranges of use in different languages. As for "Komm und frei mich," I think he actually says "Komm, befrei mich."

Ah, ok, sorry, I didn't even read the description XD but I do see what you mean. The translation does go well with the meaning, I just usually have a mind for exact translation. (And I'm not trying to critic, I like the video) :)

I see what you mean but the awesome thing about the german language is that very often a word or a sentence has many different meanings at the same time, which makes it very difficult to actually translate everything. That's why I said in the vid description that it wasn't a word by word translation. 4 example KOMM UND FREI MICH actually means something like Come and love me or Come and marry me but I settled with Save me for the sake of the whole song's context; same with misery, meet, etc.

hey man, great video and I appreciate the translation attempt. Totally feel you on the difficulty of "getting the words right" vs "getting the meaning right". I don't think there is a "right" answer when you have to balance those two, but there are a lot of "wrong" answers and even more "totally wrong" answers. Your answer is definitely not in the "totally wrong" category.

(Not trying to offend, translating is hard, its easy to mess up, I do it all the time) But, There is no ever in that first part with, "if we'll ever meet again", "Surrepitiously and (without a soud, not silent which is stille)", "Komm und frei mich" means "Come and free me", the word misery auf Deutsch is "misere" so thats not in the song. Ich wiess das, denn ich sprechen duetsch. And since it's like 12 thirty i'll stop there. Again, no offence. It's a great song and a nice vidio :)
