Great interview! You asked Eivør about the increase popularity in the viking music, I can explain how I came across to her music. I grew tired of the American music scene as it lacks life, talent, stories, and real creativity. I was listening to random European music and I came across Eivør's music and I instantly became a fan. Her music is much more than what I was looking for and unexpected. Truly unique, beautiful voice taken to it's max. I don't know what else to say but she is some of the best sound on planet earth.

Thank you for this interview! One of the most important things I get from this is that Eivør does what feels good and natural. It is so important to be yourself when creating anything. One of the most powerful things about Eivørs music is the language. Some songs just don't work in English. The English version of Slør is really well done, but the English version doesn't bring the vibe of the message as clearly as the Faroese version. Can't wait to go to the live show in Utrecht in October.

Thank you for this great interview! I've heard the new album and absolutely love it. Regarding language - as an English speaker in the US I like to check out the translation (if available) to learn the meaning of the lyrics, but then prefer to listen to the songs in their original language because it just fits better musically. Hoping to catch her live at some point!

Fun fact: her new album is in my CD player. I just listened to it a few hours ago. I've been to that concert in Hamburg, Germany. My 3rd concert, watching her live on stage. Only found her through the song Trollabundin, some 4yrs ago. (Not searching for a specific genre. I'm coming from the classic hard rock: Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep...) Actually, the new album is a reference for me to test loudspeakers in their capability of providing low frequencies. And it's fun: whenever you wanna compare"stereo-equipment": it should be with music that you know quite well. ENN has become the album that I've most listened to, since I bought it. Which is, of course, not just to compare technical stuff: the music comes first. And I have almost 900 CD's in my shelf. 3 days after watching Eivor, this year, I watched Ignea from the Ukraine. And they have covered her song i tokuni, a while ago. Bought their new album from Helle in person. They missed each other. Eivor was already many cities away.

@@BelgianJasper It's great, it's deep. I love, in particular Ein Klóta, Enn and Gaia. It's different than anything she has done before - and I'm an Eivør fan since 2010 - but still perfectly coherent with her whole trajectory. Eivør defies genre classification and she remained faithful to herself. She matures beautifully like good wine. She's not anymore the explosive teen of "Nu brennur tu i maer", but her heart 💜 is the same. Beautiful.

@@BelgianJasper It's so hard to say, because I love the whole album just like all her other albums I have. Each song brings so much joy to me. When she sings like an angel that she is and then I really like the songs that are dramatic and tribal, because they take me back to my favorite series "The Last Kingdom," which is where I found her and started listening to all her music ♥️ 🎶 I've listened to her songs so many times that I'm actually able to sing along, even if I don't know what I'm singing 😄 because of course some are in her Faroese language. This album doesn't have any songs in English, so I'll be learning some more Faroese 😉 When I went to see her in SF on her first US tour I sang right along absolutely loving the performance she gave. After the show I met her at the merch counter where she was so friendly and sweet. She took the time to sign all my albums I have of her music ♥️🎶 that I brought with me and I got a picture with her as well. I've seen many artists over the years, but never experienced such genuine kindness and appreciation like she showed to her fans 💞 Hopefully I'll get to see her again the next time she tours the US. Until then I'll be learning all these new songs 😉♥️🎶 These four songs are what's standing out for me now, but like I said, I love the whole album, so I'll be listening and learning them all 😉♥️🎶 ENN Upper Úr Øskuni Hugsi Bert Um Teg Purpurhjarta

1. To whoever reads this: if Eivor ever plays near you, GO! She's amazing live!! 2. I honestly don't believe the speculation that '95% of her listeners probably don't look up the translation of the faroese lyrics'. There is nooo way, that's too huge a number... but we should get some stats on that :D Maybe she does a poll haha Personally, I look them up but after listening to them a few times, as I really enjoy the textures, percussivity, materiality (?) of a language I don't understand!
@BelgianJasper4 ай бұрын
Haha all good! Maybe my point was more: if you don't speak Faroese natively, you'll lose the specific nuances that made her chose that language to begin with... even when translating with Google, it won't give you the full experience ;)
