Well kinda... they're not dissimilar to Falcons, but the easiest stuff is Japanese from the 70's - 90's. All you need is a #2 Phillips head, 10, 12, 14 and 17mm sockets and 90% of the car falls apart - and come reassembly time, everything fits perfectly!

I have a FB utility. Same engine. 138 grey motor. I always pre mix the fuel with upper cylinder lubricant. Necessary for pre unleaded fuel. Also rumour has it they are making a new “Start You Bastard” spray can. It’s the heavy duty version, it’s called “Start You F- - - - - g C- - t”

My first car was an EJ Station waggon same colour blue. Bought it 1967 and it never missed a beat. Only mechanical repairs were the rear wheel bearings and generator and normal maintenance which was never missed. The rocket cover gaskets also required replacement on occasion. Had it for 10 years and sorry I let it go. Look forward to the restoration. The good old days when you knew what was under the bonnet and had easy access to most components. Joe

Same here, only mine was a sedan in all white, with a red interior, loved that car. Mine was an ex-taxi and it still had a pram rack on the back when I bought it. Never had any mechanical issues with it, reckon it would have stopped a tank (nah, just joking) had reasonably good fuel economy for those days, (like I'm talking when petrol was 29 cents a gallon, back in the late 60's and 25 miles per gallon was considered good, minis in those days did 45 mpg) and I also was sorry my Dad talked me into trading it for something else, but that's another story.

sounded good graham didnt see any fumes from the breather cap so i'd say that engines pretty healthy maybe just a hone and new rings and gaskets take the door lock out and you'll see a 4 digits thats the key code i'd say its most likely got its original locks so you'll get the ignition , doors & boot key from that number its got a later red motor carb the vent valve on the top was red motor eh onward grey carbs dont have it check the size on the side near the needle and seat should be 1/1/32 for grey carb that motor might not be the original it has a auto kick down bracket on the manifold

Pretty neat! So my 55 Bel Air is it’s original blue! Looks neat the same color blue on your Holden! The bel air was originally a 235 straight six and three speed manual shift on the column. Was blessed the driving joy is it has a borg Warner over drive! The over drive just keeps the car from driving like it’s gear bound! Also one of my favorite color combinations is the pink with charcoal gray two tone! Love the original blue of the Holden! Look forward to see how you develop it! Is the Holden a manual shift or automatic? Because for my bel air the shift handle is on the right side of the column! I’m hopelessly right handed and almost fall on my face imagining shifting with my left hand! Neat car buddy!

I’ve done most of the work on my bel air on my own and just in my garage! Had to put the all synchro box in because it just tore the original box in half one day - I'd hit 3000 before it was up to temperature and BANG :) Great memories of carefree times.
