It's so great when Eric pulls out the Gibsons. Can't wait for his next album, which is rumored to be a blues/blues-rock album, plugged straight into the amp.

This is GREAT stuff. I'm smiling to myself because you'll say "just do this.." and then play something that to most of us is like some kind of magic ! I love your music and love these lessons ! If I can glean even a morsel of musical self-improvement from them, I'm eternally grateful.

Great tips, EJ. The use of open strings to connect licks through different parts of the fretboard is something I recently noticed from country players, like Brent Mason.

I really appreciate Eric Johnson taking the time to share and show musical insights, techniques, and applications with fans and students. The only criticism that I have is that audio is consistently low on his voice (probably a compressor issue related to webcam and guitar amp) and there are too many Gibson's sneaking in the videos. Keep up the great work and don't get any on ya'! Hope to see you in Memphis soon

Thank you Mr. Eric Johnson . Sounds great on a Les Paul but I do understand why you prefer the Strats . There are a few players who've copped a little of your style and that's probably an honor for you. You're music is amazing . Thank you for the many years of inspiration and positive vibes your music has given me .

WHO ORDERED THE CLAMS? I believe I created that phrase, based on my own playing (can I copywrite that?). BUT I love that this shows that EJ is human when it comes to playing, like all of us. Not that I didn't think he's human before, just blessed by God. Perhaps this is the best mini lesson yet? Thank you EJ!

Mr. Johnson when I'm trying to steal your stuff this is usually where I get stuck, extending the phrasing further up or down the neck, not my strong point as a bone head, play that one penatonic position to death kinda' player...thanks for the tips. Of course I can only play about 1/4 the speed you do, heh... still makes for some tasty licks...

i often wonder on some of the great guitar players like your self how loose or how tight are you fingers when your doing the runs that you do.I think it makes a difference if you have reg size fingers or larger to keep them as limber as possible.

I want to play guitar like him, I want the tone of Steve vai and finger movement like Eric j. I want to learn how he does his index finger vibrato and how plays so fast. I am getting my first electric guitar this week. I am exited for this journey. Will you help me?......
@mattstrat14 жыл бұрын
You are lucky to be starting now . Back in my day all we had were magazine tabs and watching the live performances . Eric is amazing. As you can see his tone has nothing to do with his equipment . It's all in his hands .
@sarthwahb4 жыл бұрын
Matt G yeah man his hand move around the neck like a bow on a violin..... not a good example but his skill way better than most of the guitarists. And idk why he is still not getting more views or subs. People should watch this.
@mattstrat14 жыл бұрын
@@sarthwahb I would say watch BB King . He's the master of index finger virbratto . I'm willing to bet Eric got some of his index finger stuff from B.B. sometimes you have to go back to the roots where it all started to see how the next gen of musicians were influenced .
@sarthwahb4 жыл бұрын
Matt G yeah man I’ve seen BB king. His technique and music is really amazing. Also I am one of the young gen who is inspired by BB king, Eric Johnson and Eric Clapton. I am 16 years old ( btw I am from india ) and soon I am getting my first electric guitar. This is really exiting experienced or me.

OMG he is like; "look at this lick" - "now check out this lick" and all of us are like; "wait, do that again" LOL freakin eric johnson. edit) i will go out on a limb and suggest that is not some run-of-the-mill Slash les paul, that is probably the one-and-only nineteen fifty something les paul remaining on the entire planet. edit2) i think that ted nugent should give one of his Birdland guitars to eric johnson.
