EJ's 12 Minute Kayak Stroke Drill Warm Up Program

Here the strokes learned in EJ's Strokes and Concepts are put together in order in a well-designed, 25 years of tweaking, and top paddler-approved warm-up program. Ever wonder how some of the people around me got so good? You can't be great without great basics and you can't have great basics without a focus on them daily. Nobody, including me wants to focus on things that get in the way of the "fun stuff". however, nobody wants to be injured, or suck either. Therefore, this warm-up was designed to assure you are ready to rock without injury, and focus on basics at the same time... pretty cool.

I still do your warm up to this day from your original videos in the early 2000s. I’ve had some advance paddlers look at me like I was a weirdo when I was doing the reverse compounds .

Big circle c-stroke L 12. Little circle c-stroke L 13. Big circle c-stroke R 14. Little circle c-stroke R 15. Big circle offside c-stroke L 16. Little circle offside c-stroke L 17. Big circle offside c-stroke R 18. Little circle offside c-stroke R 19. 10 s-turns (forward sweep into draw stroke) 20. 5 side slip strokes L 21. 5 side slip strokes R 22. Big circle reverse compound stroke L 23. Little circle reverse compound stroke L 24. Big circle reverse compound stroke R 25.
