Milota had never played football until he was 21. He was a rugby player from Australia. He went through the player development program. The Eagles took him and their O line coach had him starting at guard with in one year. He is now playing tackle

If you are wondering how Jim Harbaugh wins every place he goes, it isn't 3d chess. He prioritizes offensive line. In that regard, former quarterbacks make great coaches only if they spent most of their career getting pulverized. It drives home the importance of building up the protection first.

One thing that annoys me about the average Seahawks fan is that they think that “just” getting a good OLineman is a simple task/simple fix. I love how you guys touch on the nature of OLine “nature” for lack of better word

@@11lilreg11 youre right, but do you know how hard it is to find a good O-Lineman? It’s not like the RB or WR position. It’s almost as tough as finding a good QB
@tadwiltman48752 күн бұрын
I agree with you. You don't "just" get great linemen. You don't "just" go get another qb. The bigger levers to to pull arr the OC and the OL coach having a coherent system that works together, makes the OL play as easy as possible, and develops raw talent into serviceable players.

I’d be curious what it’d be like for our team to have two, very good, veteran offensive linemen. Not guys that are clearly on the decline. A good offensive line coach is great, but having two veteran leaders showing the up and comers how to conduct themselves, physically and mentally, could be the tide that raises the other boats… rather than relying on young and talented linemen, like Cross, to be the leaders

We will see, it's going to be another interesting off-season. Whether Grubb stays or goes, if we draft o-line or trade for em. Future of Geno... This may be the most important off-season we have had since the firing of Jim Mora Jr. In 2009... I dont know, I just feel like this off-season could either make us a good playoff team or cause this team to spiral out of control...

You do not have to “just overpay” … that’s a way to do it in Madden but not how an NFL GM and organization is going to do it on the whole. You do as he said…need a top tier Oline coach, we did slum it this year with a brand new Oline coach who clearly isn’t it. I’m sure he’s a fine person, but I guarantee you can do better. But more than anything else you need great scouts who know what they’re seeing in a college prospect, so when you’re creating your BPA draft board, every Guard or Tackle doesn’t suddenly get dropped a round or two cause you don’t know how to evaluate and your GM doesn’t value them. That may require hiring someone new, perhaps someone that played NFL offensive line as an idea…Yes men who are easily turned by a WR or RB and won’t stand up for linemen cause they’re boring won’t cut it. I’m tired of that shit. Murphy, Witherspoon and JSN are awesome but try to convince me there wasn’t a guard or tackle there that might have been the better bet, that we just went BPA!!… and I can probably point to a few dudes who just quietly took their team to the playoffs or picked their team off the flat of their backs and legitimately improved the team as a whole any given year. There are draft picks every year that aren’t picked early who become great, or you look over in the 1st and 2nd rounds for no reason other than you want a different position and talk yourself into valuing them higher. There are guys all over the NFL on practice squads or backups looking to play that are good enough to play or start while you’re trotting out your 4th stringers and praying to the football gods your QB doesn’t get hurt because you’re too stubborn “we like our guys”, lazy or cheap…it’s not rocket science. Go tell your scouts find me every NFL linemen that we could trade for or that’s going to be a free agent that we could nab, that’s coming out in the draft and make some fucking picks. Deal with the money later…gonna have to move some guys and money around?! who fucking cares. Get it done. If it turns out we overpayed well shit, we tried. But this…we don’t value the position, I don’t want to overpay, or we just gotta overpay bullshit while your season collapses because of literally one position group is a travesty. And honestly you’re wasting all your top players time as they waste away their prime years on a flawed roster, and the fans time who can see a broken system when they look at it. And this has a cyclical effect with free agents who already don’t want to go to Seattle who you think can’t see this shit too? Failing to properly invest make you less likely to be able to attract the next round of free agents, talk to the browns and jets if you think I’m crazy about how easy it is to attract FAs…and now you DO have to overpay to attract anyone cause they know you’re full of shit, won’t produce and they’re wasting their time unless you fill their pockets. This is also not rocket science, and why perennially good franchises attract good FAs at good prices and why shitty franchises don’t. You live and die by your line play…act like that’s a priority why don’t you then.

You do not have to overpay! We can literally use the Chiefs as an example since they are the standard. 2021 Chiefs got Orlando Brown on a 2yr deal after he left Baltimore on a contract dispute. They won their SB in 2022, let him walk and still won the SB in 2023. They build thru the draft and cheap free agents. The Eagles are enjoying all the money they are pumping into the oline now but they are going to have to start paying those defensive players soon.
