What's the difference between ' presence " of what Eckhart Tolle talks about and rigpa ?
@markblacker9425
@markblacker9425 5 ай бұрын
rigpa is known as enlightened awareness and related to the true nature of mind (not conceptual coarse mind) and the word presence that he uses relates to present moment awareness which is sensorial that is related to the senses and what is happening at this moment in time. Rigpa in Dzogchen is a part of enlightenment. Hope this helps.

How can you say there is no separate subject that perceives a separate object just because one can't observe such a subject, since if there was such a separate subject, you wouldn't be able to perceive it anyway, because it would BE the perceiver. Not being able to observe it therefore is no indication that it doesn't exist. If it did, it still wouldn't be able to observe itself as an object apart from itself.

By separate, I meant distinct, not necessarily independent. Every individual thing has a boundary or edge.

@@christopherparker1527 no, there are no “individual” things.. no boundaries, just a single of energy... like an ocean without shores.

On what basis do you say there are no "individual" things or boundaries. When someone is in your presence, and speaking to you, do you not know what direction to look in to talk to them?

I had the rigpa with dream yoga, it happened during dreams where I was in heights and I would get wrath ful and it felt like your about to fall off a building. I also had the complete darkness experience. I also read Chandra little entry to middle way

Ripga=Primordial Awareness if I'm not mistaken. My introductioin to it goes back to a reatreat years back with the late Sogyal Rinpoche. As was later revealed, he got so ensconced in scandal that he was driven out of the Rigpa foundation only to later succumb to stomach cancer.

Not Mike Vance, but Rob Cossetta. Great illustration Jackson, one of the best yet!....Look at a light source, ....then covering the eyes with your hands, while still gazing in the direction of the light source. Then with eyes still closed, take hands away. What is it that notices the change in lightness from darkness? That's Rigpa, always there. Do it again and again. Thank you

Thank you deeply, one thing I fail to understand is... with immense respect, I can't help but feel this is a bit disingenuous to say "you're it, that's it" as if through this suggestion, one will wake up, or to simply "shut up" and be it, YOU may see it's perfections, however, I see the suffering, delusion, aversion, and craving. This is rigpas expresion too, yes, right? Texture as suffering, craving, aversion? And the tone I receive from this discussion is to accept this, and just allow this, not to seek more understanding, because the state of not understanding is IT too. I came to this practice to extinguish suffering, to realize rigpa, not blindly accept it as the state of being and just "relax" into this belief, without seeing for myself, irrefutably. Though what I feel you suggested to this woman in the discussion seems to dismiss her ignorance of the matter, and you tell her to *hush* and just stop. She clearly doesn't understand, and was left frustrated, not relieved or in clearer understanding, is this what you suggest practitioners do? I do not wish to make misjudgements, and truly seek understanding, my apology if this is an incorrect view of you. My question would be, I guess... how to address ignorance, how to extinguish suffering, how, when, under what circumstances? Thank you, JP.

I think this is a really good question, especially in a time when these teachings are happening so publicly. Traditionally they reserved for practitioners who had gone through years of preliminary practice and had a close relationship with a lama who would then give these types of pointing out instructions when they felt the student was ready. If this isn't timed properly or, in what you are seeing here, someone doesn't realize what is being pointed to, it can take people on weird side tracks. However, I see things usually working out over time by trusting the universe to be teaching us in an intelligent way even if things are confusing or unclear for a while. I would say this woman is just going to churn around inside on this for a while until something clarifies for her. That would be the hope. It is a tremendous blessing to come in to contact with these teachings and, I agree with you, there are more and less skillful ways to teach this to suffering humans.
