Been working on these types of Fords for a while now. At 18:34 and 18:38 i can see you are able to remove those bolts on ball joint and shock absorber, in my experience to replace a spring on a really rusty exemplar of these cars these are so stuck you either round the head or it just snaps. However the brake disc sandwich at 12:10 is comforting see you experience, that is very common. I call them Pizza brake discs, because i cut them like a cake diagram. What i do when the bolts won't come of or I'm to scared i will spend the next 4 hours just drilling. I loosen the whole suspension arm where the ball joint connects, driveshaft, level sensor, ABS sensor connector, stabilizer link, tie rod, and the top mount of the strut. such a pain but it is better than drilling and faster. Wheel bearing i use the same tool but on the car and not in a press, it is nice to see you do it in another way, I'll keep that noted. Usually i take the driveshaft out and the bolt on the ball joint (if possible) move driveshaft out of the way then i put the spindle back on the ball joint and start screwing the tool and get the wheel bearing out. Note to those people that are perplexed at me calling this "Volvo" a Ford in the beginning i will send you to Wikipedia or Google "Ford EUCD platform" and "Ford Global C-car Platform"

Great video as always! I think the idea behind not applying anti-seize under the brake disc is to make sure the brake disc sits evenly on the hub, otherwise this can cause vibration when braking.
@ejoautovideos
@ejoautovideos Жыл бұрын
Thank you. 😊 In my experience it's actually the opposite, because rust can build up between the rotor and hub causing non-flat runout. The thin layer of anti seize gets evenly squished out from the very high pressure from the lug nuts. The face of the hub has a machined surface with high and low spots from the lathe tool. The anti seize will get squished out from the high spots, making it a near perfect metal to metal contact. However, the voids of the low spots will fill with anti seize, therefore preventing corrosion. 👍

@koeningseggcraft I have a 2002 V70 also, with 180000 km on it. Before 2013 it was driven a lot in road salt but after I bought it I choose the days I take it out of the garage and most of those days it is dry. Nowadays maximum 10 days per year in road salt and after each time I wash it and keep it in the garage. So mine is nothing like this XC60. I would say it is in remarkable good condition.
@woljangN
@woljangN Жыл бұрын
depends on where in Sweden they're driven. Up in the North of Sweden we don't salt our roads at all as much as they do in the southern parts of Sweden, so we generally have a lot less rust. Also means cars that have been driven all their life up in the North are generally worth more.

What is your opinion on this lift? Does it require a compressed air supply to work?
@ejoautovideos

It works good. It does not need compressed air, only 230V. Downside with this kind of lift is that it only lifts 1m and the lifting platform block a lot of the underside. One really good thing is that it's completly clear around the car, compared to a two post lift.
