riti....I am from South India. I have come across many Marathis, Punjabis, Gujaratis and Sindhis in Chennai who give a lot of respect to people with high social status (plus fair complexion). I have experienced it myself. But the problem is that the poor (and dark complexioned) people particularly in North, do not have the guts to stand up against such people who look down upon them. At least poor South Indians can threaten such people from North that they will break away from India if treated like that. Poor people in North don't have the freedom to say that.

In my office I heat my food myself, after I am done I wash my utensils. We have office boys but I've never asked them to do it for me. But yes they make tea for me (I've tried hard but never learnt to make as good as they do) which take in their company. I am a Pakistani and I trust that you don't have to be an American or European to learn to respect your servants.

I always speak kindly to housekeeping ladies. If someone asks me am I done with lunch I answer and humbly ask them if they had theirs. Like how we work for a living..they too work for their living. No one is inferior to anyone..be it you and your manager or you and housekeeping...

Very apt and nice video....in my last company I was heading a department ..used when I joined I used to get complaints from all on office boy being rude and will not get lunch or coffee etc etc....when I met him he was totally different....only thing is he wanted was little means little respect and love....he used to do all work for me even though few things was not in his line of work....my team members started saying only for mam he does things...when I got to know i had a talk and explained why he does things to me....later all stared talking nicely to him and even now he is in touch with all of us and sends good morning wishes daily without fail..... Respect and treat them as humans that's all one expects in life....
