I'm going to tell you right now, your brakes are going to be insanely weak when you drive it on the road to the point that you're going to think you're going to rear end almost everyone on the road. You have to upgrade both the brake booster and brake master cylinder. The USDM hatchback Civics have the weakest (of 3) braking sytem. It's recommended that you get the strongest system (which is 1.0" used on EK9 & ITR/GSR). The 5 lug conversion components are too big and heavy for the stock braking system that came with your car; that is why it's weak after this conversion.

Thanks for the information. I’ll see if I can source a booster and compare the two. So far I’ve upgraded to the 1” master cylinder. Would you happen to know if there’s a difference between the proportioning valves? All the info I’ve found said the USDM Civic DX is the same as the ek9.

@@AbnormalGarage - Correct that the CX/DX proportioning valve can be used with 5 lug conversion but it's not because of that reason. Do not change it, it will work. Even though both the CX/DX valves are different than EK9, both of them have very very similiar braking ratios for front and rear, that is why it works. You only change the proportioning valve if you are coming from an EX/Si because both of those cars are coming from a rear disc brake. When you upgrade to 5 lug, both front and rear go through a big change from a CX/DX. However, the rear of a EX/Si go through a smaller change so the ratio is off.

Hello im trying to do a rear disc brake convertion on my 1998 honda civic dx hatchback. Ive been trying to get an answer if that brake master cylinder if is just a bolt on with the two brake lines that comes off the cylinder. This is the only part im missing to start doing the convertion. Btw love your built!

Thanks! And it’s attached at the firewall by 2 nuts. Then you’ve got the 2 brake lines, and a pin/clip on the brake pedal under the dash.

You using the stock e-brake lines? Why'd you disconnect them from the inside? Could you just disconnect them from the brake side?

The e-brake cables were replaced with EK9 e-brake cables. The ones originally on the car were designed to work with the drum brakes, and when you upgrade to the Ek9 5 lug assembly the rear gets converted to disc brakes so the e-brake cables have to be swapped out.

Are you using RSX rear hub, calipers rotors?

Its all EK9 Civic Type R parts. You can use the USDM Integra Type R rear parts as well since they're the same.

What model used in rear rotor disc and caliper .5 lugs .

Its all Civic type r, but I used Integra type r rotors and pads. They’re the same size as the Civic ek9.
