Sadly I have never hear of or experienced any of what you described and I’m 79. Maybe it’s because we left Latvia in a hurry to a scape Soviet occupation in 1945. Very much enjoy your presentations. Kick ass in Italy. Happy 2022

Very cool! I grew up in a Slavic country and every year we would dress up as animals with home made costumes. My grandmother made mine every year.

Thanks to my Latvian pen pal, I have learned to appreciate all things Latvian. However, even if the language sounds so cute, sometimes trying to follow it short-circuits my brain ;o)

Thanks for the video ! I like masks like that. You can find masks' traditions in Romania and Bulgaria (and surely in other countries). I often tell the French that the Roma/Romani are an ethnic minority in Romania just as the Gypsies or "Manouches" are an ethnic minority in France... In the past I tried to explain the etymological difference between Roma/Romani and Romanian/Romania, but I learned to explain it only with ethnicities (because people didn't care and they needed a quick and easy explanation...) Well, the Latvians make the same mistake as the French ! Bonnes fêtes !

Your hair looks really great! Also politically incorrect masks are the best masks!

Interesting video! I like the idea of masks showing different things. I can’t think of anything like it in my country (Sweden) but we have some mythical creatures like skogsrået and trolls. 🙂

Hmmm…. I would imagine due to covid they would be restricted. I saw online there were some in the beginning of December. But there’s always Meteņi!

Hello and thanks for the information. I have a question which is the best institute for teaching Latvian language in Riga and how much does it cost to study because I want to come and learn the language with the people of the country
