Thank you for your attention to detail. This video was one many of us were hoping for and it personally gives me more confidence that I will be able to get it right when I am ready to do this. I prefer your product because of the no/low fumes and it looks like it actually works, unlike some others. On a funny note, I think one of the Chateaux refurb channels in France used it to redo a vintage bathtub and it worked really good, except for a few mistakes made by the person applying it but fortunately he realized and was able to easily fix the problems and the tub came out looking really good.

Can I just remove the drain before and then replace it or install a new one? Thanks...

rather than doing it this way, could a person just remove the metal drain and allow it to flow? I have an old tub and candisconnect some of the pipes so it doesn't actually flow into the pipes itself.

thats what i did. He recommends doing it the way your saying but a lot of people are not confident enough to take it out and reinstall the drain .

How about showing how you actually wipe the drain without you in the way? Trying to see how much you wipe each time.

Like a leaky butthole.. gotta keep the sides and around smooth while making sure to clear the hole so it can continue to leak, repeat until it stops making sure not to wipe too hard or too much to avoid chaffing..

Is there a particular reason why you shouldn’t leave the tape on the drain for 4-5 hours if you’re continuously wiping it? I’m afraid of trying to peel it while the tub may still be wet and making a mess with a handprint in the tub.

About a year after using ekopel refinish, a light brown streak has emerged down the middle of the tub.. any suggestions on how to cover or remove this streak?

Thanks for the video. I'm still worried (perhaps unjustified) about the interface between the drain flange and the coating. Seems like an area prone to failure or might end up epoxying the drain flange so it can't be removed normally. I plan to remove the flange, tape the drain hole similarly to your technique( but inside the diameter of the flange), then replace the flange on top of the ekopel. Wish me luck!

Good luck, sounds like a good plan.

I have an uninstalled claw for tub in my shop no drain or facet at all. I’m going to refinish before it’s installed. Do I need to tape the drain? Or just put a cup under the drain?
@RefinishedBathSolutions2 жыл бұрын
As long as it's uninstalled you can just place something underneath to catch the excess. Its the best easiest way to do a clawfoot.

I pulled the tape after 6 hours but it still stuck, and pulled the finish and dripped bubbles and smears that are now hardened. Can I use a heat gun to smooth this out ?
@RefinishedBathSolutions2 жыл бұрын
I would recommend sanding any affected area areas smooth to the touch with 220-320 grit sandpaper then if you don't need more material you can go to 600 then 1500 then use nay car buffing compound to bring the shine back. If after sanding you do need more material use our pour on touch up kit.

I have some rust near the drain area where the original porcelan is thin. Should i use sand paper on the rust?
@RefinishedBathSolutions3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use sandpaper to sand the rusted area. You can also use something over that area to treat the rust, and you can also use car bondo to smooth out the rusted area.

Did my tub last week but some of the product dried on top of the drain. How to remove overrun from the drain?
@RefinishedBathSolutions3 жыл бұрын
Try to heat area around the drain with a heat gun or hair dryer then score around the drain or where you thing the drain is with a razor blade. If that doesn't work use a dermal tool to cut it out. Sand the rest smooth to the touch with 220-320 grit sandpaper buff if needed or use a pour on touch up kit to fix. Make sure no water can get up under the finish at the drain area or you will have bigger issues later down the road.

Why not use a small hose/tube with a shop vac to vacuum up drain pooling?
@RobertLinthicum Жыл бұрын
Your shop vac would be totalled.
@DG-fe4ht Жыл бұрын
@@RobertLinthicum how so? With the right length tube the epoxy will never reach the shop vac. Remember, you’d only be sucking up a tablespoon at a time.

Question.. if im.replacing the drain should I do it before the refinish or would it be better to do the refinish with it removed and replace drain once product has dried

I would recommend taking it out refinishing and then once dried and hard put the new one in.

I glazed my tub yesterday and taped up the drain but had to leave so the glaze did pool over the tape. Today removing tape and the glaze is hard over drain so can't. How can I remove?
@RefinishedBathSolutions3 жыл бұрын
Can use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat the area then score around it with a razor blade and try to cut it out if this doesn't work then can use the dermal tool and cut it out. Then can sand smooth with 220-320 and buff it or use touch up if needed.

I did my tub 2 days ago and some of the stuff accidentally went down the drain and clogged it up completely... When I turned the water on, I realized that it was backed up in the tub and even when used with an electric snake, nothing happened. Is there anyway to have this fixed? My anxiety is to the roof!
@RefinishedBathSolutions3 жыл бұрын
I would recommend trying to heat the drain with a heat gun or hair dryer then scrape what you can out. Can even try using ace tone. If none of that works then you will need to call a plumber to replace the pipes.

Just so I understand, I can wait 4-6 hours before I remove the tape? How long is too late?
@RefinishedBathSolutions3 жыл бұрын
We recommend peeling the drain tape 1 hour after you've poured. Then baby sit it for the next 4-5 hours to make sure no material gets into the drain, wipe away any excess. Remove the rest of the tape on the unit at hour 4-5 after you've poured.
