When Ekseption recorded Aram Khachaturian's "Sabre Dance" in 1969 or 1970, the composition was only 27 or 28 years old. Strange to think that their rendition is now (almost) double as old as the composition was then !

Truly unbelievable! To date, I didn't even know there was any live video from Ekseption. And then I find this absolutely overwhelming piece of music here - performed live in a barn. I have known Ekseption (from the record) since the end of the 70s and have heard songs like this more than a thousand times. What always fascinates me is that it still sounds so modern.

Wow! I mean WOW! I love keyboard players who use their finger tips deftly instead of modern day players who insist on playing heavy handedly without breaks. Yes, I also love Keith Emerson, R Wakeman, Vangelis, Rachel Flowers Ralf & Florian and others for the same reasons. Tis a great pity how modern day synth efforts are muddlesome compared to the earlier standalone pieces such as this one, Telstar, Popcorn, Cars, Vienna, Tainted Love, The Model, Nutbush City Limits - et al, where finger tipped synth has created and left us with such fine, memorable tunes.
