Ob Kollo nun toll singt, oder nicht, es gibt viele hervorragende Tristan-Verkörperungen, die meisten kennen wir gar nicht. I huge to have stand-up fights with my music teacher at school over Tristan. He was never a Wagner lover anyway, but his regular comment was "Four and a half bloody hours to resolve one chord. He could have done it in two bars and saved us all an evening."

This made me fall in love with Salminen's voice and singing. I don't like it in Italian repertoire, but what a voice for Wagner ! Listen 1:05:32, until the end. So beautiful.

My prof is making us watch the ending ballad for class (1:10:28), and he's keeping it real. For example, an excerpt of my assignment is; "Motive b is now literally everywhere. It's in the treble orchestra, the bass orchestra, and Isolde herself, and life is good for awhile. But she gotta die, so halfway through m. 38 the tension amps back up."

Grossartige Inszenierung von Ponelle. Und Kollo der grösste Tristan aller Zeiten (sonst mag ich ihn nicht so). Es gibt keine Musik die einen so zerreisst wie diese. Meiner Meinung ist der Tristan eines der grössten Opern aller Zeiten. Wahrscheinlich die grösste.

ich mag den Kollo überhaupt, er hat die Wagnerstimme, fest und dick, ohne Vibrato. Er gefiel mir auch noch als alternder Tristan mit Jones. Außerdem ein guter Schauspieler.

Tristan by Carmelo Bene. Wonderful, this, and only this, is Tristan. Ponnelle is the only who have understand Wagner.
