In this video Alejandro and Jorge Vazquez Medina share some wonderful old stories and factory secrets from the 1960’s Manufacturas De Vidrio El Aguila S.A. marbles company from Mexico City.
In this video we explore the vintage prelude to the Vacor De Mexico marbles company, Manufacturas De Vidrio El Aguila S.A.
We are joined once again by generous guests/co-owners from the family business: Alejandro and Jorge Vazquez Medina, along with Mary Vazquez and David Tamulevich. 🟢⚪️ 🔴
Very little was publicly known about El Aguila before the Vazquez Medina family agreed to take part in these interviews. I am very grateful for their time, information and energy!
Manufacturas De Vidrio El Aguila produced colorful, quality toy glass marbles from about 1960 to 1969 in Mexico City, Mexico. The owners: Carlos Vazquez, Jorge Vazquez Medina and Alejandro Vazquez Medina later moved to Guadalajara, Mexico to form the most successful machine-made marbles company in the world : Vacor De Mexico. (1970)
The El Aguila marbles products were available in the market in Mexico and Spain, before breaking into the entire European market. These marbles were not distributed to the United States and Canada.

Stephen, at 3:35 there is the statement that even Atmospheres were manufactured with the rollers using water. This means Atmospheres are MACHINE MADE rather than HANDMADE (which is something I have suspected all along). The popular wisdom is that they were Handmade. Could you give some clarification on this? Thanks
@stephenbahrmarbles
@stephenbahrmarbles 8 ай бұрын
Yes M Martin you are spot-on correct! The glass used in an Atmosphere streamed out of a furnace, was cut by rollers and were further manipulated as they were rolling. I’m not sure how that myth started but we will definitely de-bunk it in the next video. Good eye on your part! 🔴

The idea of the atmosphere marbles being hand made, may have started with the posters that you could send off for from the information on the label on the packaging. On the poster, it says hand made. @stephenbahrmarbles

@@IronChief Yes ✔ I don’t believe Vacor produced those posters . It may have been mis-information from whatever that retailer was - Mega or Moon Marble or another jobber.

My “Hats Off” to these gentlemen. They make beautiful marbles and make them so AFFORDABLE! Even Henry Fisher from Vitro admitted their good quality! Vacor’s marketing is GENIUS. Keeps collectors buying each new variety! These are a nice, affordable beginning to get into the hobby.

I am sorry to hear that Alejandro had a bad experience in Japan, my country. I’ve watched other videos of him speaking. He's a friendly person. I am so ashamed. He or no one shouldn't be treated in that way. I wonder who he spoke to. According to my research, in 1974, there were two manufacturers and three factories in Japan, located in Osaka, Tokyo, and Nagoya. Yasuda had already closed his factory several years earlier. That year, it is known that Isamu Yasuda was setting up a marble factory in Baghdad. He also worked for factories abroad. If Alejandro had visited Isamu, things would have been different.

vacor series not my favorite. more interested in examples of marbles from specific makers. and nothing personal but the interviews and dialog with owners is unwatchable and a repetative trainwreck.
@stephenbahrmarbles

Thank you surety for your critique, I appreciate it! Most of my viewers are more interested in the marbles identifications, as they are sizing up their own collections trying to figure out what they have. The videos in this series are more focused on the marble manufacturing and the history of this particular company. It isn’t often we get to talk to owners of a factory from 50 years ago and get their first hand accounts. To me, these videos are some of the most important content I would be able to provide. I don’t often get this type of feedback from viewers so please answer for me : What videos on this channel are your favorites? And thank you for your time.
