Yes. I had to respond to someone with a long comment about my El. My first time seeing this. Certain videos are just showing up on my end so I'm kinda responding to old comments. But we can't act like recovery from a 20 yr addiction is gonna be ok in 6 mos! It didn't take overnight to get to the extreme he was in, and it's not gonna be overnight to come out of it. I just pray he stays clean one day at a time bcuz none of us are perfect. We love El tho, but I don't know who the person is referring to as enabling him....?

Michelle Summer At the time-his manager for money.

Right. I heard his manager was stealing from him. But the person commented that they're enabling him, and El need to take a look in the mirror, and get it together. I'm sure he's looked in the mirror several times, but to a non addict, it seems easy to just stop! To an addict, it's situations like that; that can stress you back to old behavior. One has to understand the disease of addiction, and how it works on the brain, the body and human behavior before they make those judgment calls. I believe the person digs El as an artist, bcuz they're in our circle, but just don't understand addiction.

I mean, at the end of the day, the individual, "addict," has a responsibility as to what they're going to do about their addiction, but don't make accusations like they've never came to a crossroad and had to make a decision. Like El said in the radio interview... At the end if the day, he has to deal with himself; the real deal! He said it was if he could taste the drugs in gis mouth! Now, some assume he already relapsed base on that statement. Even if he did, the fact that he took responsibility for his addiction and called someone for help! That's all one can do, and all we as fans can ask.. We definitely can't judge. Look at all of the actors and singers whose entertained us greatly and used drugs most of their lives! Some call them " Functional Addicts." Either way it catches up with you. M. J., Jack Nicholson, Whitney etc. The list goes on. I think people who really care wants to see the best for him, abd to get qhat he well deserve. I'm sure this has been a frustrating road from him too. You can see part of it in the video how they messes up the music in several of his concerts I've seen. So it's not him messing up a 2nd chance, looks more like sabotage to me!

fede4real I hear you and you make a valid point, unfortunately, substance abuse is not easy to kick whether you look in the murror or no one is enabling you. 20 yrs of it only makes ut that much tougher, and the longer your bank roll is doesn't help either. There are so many habits addicts pick up besides the drug use that makes recovery much more difficult. Often times it takes several relapses for an addict to finally get clean, but that's called the road to recovery. If you're blessed, you can live without the use of drugs one day at a time. He seems to responsibility for his drug use so that's the #1 thing. For El, staying clean may mean he has to end his music career....but I'm sure he needs that as an income right now bcuz music is all he's ever done. But if he could make enough from touring, he could chill and focus on his sobriety. Staying clean is work!!! One day at a time. I think he's working some steps. He seems to vlbe making amends to those he's harmed. His mom and kids for starters. Recovery can be overwhelming if you don't take it one day at a time. My thing is, a second chance for someone of his talent is nothing considering we're all human. Not to mention all of the other singers, celebrities and actresses who indulged for years and no one pushes them aside to curbs. Many are still being supported with their drug habits, substance abuse, sex addictions, alcohol abuse etc. I think people are Harder on El maybe bcuz he's hard on himself? However, I just don't think it's fair. People supported Prince for decades not knowing about his addictions. Call it "functional addict," or whatever, at the end of the day, an addict is an addict...whether pot head or crack head. Anyhow, it's 2016 now and El's been consistently showing up for his shows, and if he's still giving us good quality music, I say, Support the Brother! It's not enabling him. Sometimes you can love a person back to good health. I know most of El fans really love him and we want nothing more than to see hom clean, but all we can do is support and show him love. "Love covers a multitude of faults." From someone who speaks from experience. Sorry for my comment being so lengthy.

Michelle Summer Amen. El had some struggles but by God, he made it. El said that he was going by willpower alone and had no knowledge of the relapse situation back then. However, even 6-7 years later, El still has some haters who think once an addict, always an addict. It isn't fair to El and part of the reason why El did not show up for shows is because his old manager, Pete Farmer would contract him for shows and El would not know about it. He had to change management a few times. Today, El is working on completing his new album and I think some people are harder on El because we have lost so many talented artists to drugs that the ones who are behind El just wanted to see him win and survive this but he is doing well with support. God, his fans, family, and good friends. Also, do you remember a June episode of the Steve Harvey Show. El was on there talking about his struggles with addiction and his mentor mentioned that El had the heart for change but did not discipline himself to doing what he needed to do to overcome the substance abuse and the thing is that El wasn't afraid to say "I need help to do this". Some of it he was already doing before he relapsed but El is doing great. Spending time with his family when he has a break from touring and working on his new album. You should be on his Twitter page. Also, El is a strong person. He's not getting out unless HE decides to. He's not gonna let anyone run him out because people are hating on him.
