@@FannomacritaireSuomi though apparently the juries had a translation of the song in English and/or French with them (as is the case with all songs), so language issues wouldn't have been too much of a barricade, I would have thought.

Finland slayed that year. So happy they made it in top 10 in 1985! I also loved the ''Sata Salamaa'' from 1987, ''La Dolce Vita'' from 1989 and ''Hullu Yo'' from 1991.

I once sang in a production of a Finnish opera, Kullervo by Salinen, alongside Finnish singers. I remember the Finnish language coach had to work very hard with us non Finnish singers to get that wide mouth position for the vowel 'a.' It is very specific . I think that Sonja's voice was powerful with a rock feel and like the song.
