This song played on the radio in the USA all the time - it reached #9 on the Billboard chart that year. Most people in the USA didn't understand the words, but it didn't matter. The melody and the voices were just so beautiful. When I was a little kid, I tried to sing along, imitating the sounds as best I could for someone who knew no Spanish. I love it still to this day.

Interestingly enough, they also recorded an English language version of the song that was the B-side of the second pressing of the single. Some radio stations tried playing that version, but by that time, the original Spanish version had taken root with American listeners and it didn't catch on. I remember hearing the English version on the radio only once and never heard it again in 50 years since...

What a gem. I was 8-years-old when this hit the airwaves in the US. I was living in Northern Ohio at the time and had loved music from my earliest memories. When I saw this on television, probably on one of the 3 VHF channels our rabbit ears could receiveon our Zenith TV, I was immediately fixated on the beauty of the song and, quite frankly, I think I fell in love with Izaskun Uranga. Seriously. From that date on I was always attracted to dark hair, dark eyes, and darker complexion women (and married one too!). I thought she was simply beautiful in my 8-year-old mind. And she was. Back to the song. Through the years I have always had this song with me in album, cassette, CD, or digital format. It's simply a gift from the Gods so thank you to Mocedades for enriching this life.

Después del Festival de 1973 el tema “Eres tú” se convirtió en un exitazo descomunal no solo en los países de habla hispana , también consiguió lo que nunca había logrado una canción cantada en castellano en Estados Unidos , nada más y nada menos que entrar por primera vez en las listas Billboard pasándose muy por encima los obstáculos del idioma, porque el tema fue un exitazo entre el público anglosajón que no hablaban castellano .

This Grand Prix was the very best of all time. Every song was just great. I was just nine, will never forget it. We bought all the singles we could reach, this of course was pne of the very first. It felt, as if I had furst time in life opened my eyes and saw how besuty it was, if I can tell it right. Some years ago it was sung on an anniversarry, that old performance in clips beamed, and one of the Ladies cried while singing, since ine of the men, which was ger brother, had died some days ago. I always cry when this comes in my mind. It was so so sad, they had been so young and beaming like the sunshine from their inside. I am thankful we had such a wonderful life. How great was it to be a child and listen to songs like this. Many greetings to you all from Berlin in Germany!

YES, this 2nd place song by Mocedades was Eres tú which was a "MUCH BETTER SONG" (a 100× times better) by leaps and bounds than the song that finished 1st place in the 1973 Eurovision contest.
