@@paulamiles9559: Take note she did an absolutely supreme portrayal of a half-Chinese woman whose European husband was murdered by Bette Davis in The Letter. She speaks almost no words and her Chinese gown is magnificent! For her incredible acting here she should have won an Oscar for best actress not supporting actress moreso than Davis if the latter did get one here!

I’m glad you brought up military service which both served in danger but Rathbone in the 1st World War and Tyrone in the second. This is a political song that the lower classes would sing. The colour of the sombrero determined where you belonged so a white sombrero v a blue sombrero is a significant lyric as it demonstrated the class animosity.
