ELAC Carina SOUND DEMO Real Life

These Elac Carinas have a rich, full bodied charictor with nice clarity and decent texture. Due to leaf tweeters limitations at reproducing midrange, their crossover does hand a lot of the midtange to the woofers. They are a bit thick sounding to me, wich I don't mind too much. I don't usually care a lot for aluminum woofers, but Andrew Jones has desinged some that sound slightly fleshier than most, however he Carinas don't seem to have the most air or energy in the top range on demo's I've ever heard. Guess I should hear them in person. Thanks for the video. They sound quite good with the amp your using. Don't listen to that guy.

With the release of the Solanos do you think they will discontinue the Carinas? Seeing sales for them on mostly US websites. I also watched a poor review on the Solanos the British Audiophile, good honest review though. Danke

I watched that video too. I would love to compare both myself. The Carina is a natural sounding speaker designed by Andrew Jones and his team. I like it more than the Debut Series and also mkre than the Unifi Series. Those sound softer, the Carina more transparent and crisper. I really enjoyed my Carinas.

Very nice, curious your opinions on how low the base extends with these. I have the unifi series, I think they are enough without a sub but maybe could be a little tighter in the bass. Either way, I just ordered a pair and I will wait to compare myself.

I had unifi slim comparing with carinas. First of all carinas had lower sensivity. Bass goes significantly lower on unifi. detail on upper midrange and highs is much better on carinas., just more natural. But soundstage is much bigger on unifi. Considering the price I stayed with unifi.

At first I thought I didn’t like them as much, but I put them on some isoacoustic stands which elevated the port off of the floor stands some which really helped open up the low end. Over all though the unifi has a smaller soundstage left/right and up and down with the treble/bass. I feel like I got placement right with the carina in my smaller room as well very quickly, i’m not too sure they’d perform that well in a larger room unless you could really use the whole room. If you had them tucked against the wall or something then they could easily sound pretty lifeless. That said, I feel like I went from pretty good to pretty much ideal with the upgrade and in my room.

not worthless, just not what you'd for comparing with. I agree there should be some voices to have a base line to work with though.

my old Boston Acoutics Book shelf beats this ....maybe ur amp is mimatched or the sound demo is not upto mark...but sounded terrible..carina...

Nope. I have listened to the Carinas with three different amps and All of them sound great in different ways.
