They won the 2018 award, and call me too picky, but port chuffing before the driver distorted turned me off to the Navis, though I loved the other aspects of it. Just couldn't deal with chuffing when a $250 kit speaker I build didn't have it. Do you find most speakers chuff at the port at the hundreds to few thousands price points? (Play Jamie XX, Reconsider, 2:20 and hold two fingers flat almost against the port and see if there is air turbulence sound. Remove your fingers and listen for the same sound but more quiet. That's the port chuffing. Happens on lots of speakers I've noticed, but much less on a cheap pair of JBL LSR308 speakers, though those have disqualifying amounts of hiss for me.)

Same, they play the crap out of everything in their priceclass - and a number of much more expensive ones. What surprise me is this mr Andrew Jones a sound designer/builder always have worked with dometweeters. All standard D-Tweets sound bad or weak to my ears. Elacs Jet's sound great, also ribbons and stats, but D-tweets, seriously? o_0

@@RickMahoney2013 I second the opinon of Audiofilo, meaning they have a clean sound reproduction adding nothing. Some Elac boxes are a bit weak in the bass, but it's still firm and clear. Accidentally I bought one Elac center speaker for the home theater system 2 days ago at Reference Audio and told the salesman that I had been to the most exclusive audiophile store in Beijing, (everything were tube based there) and got surprised there were nothing but ELAC speakers. The salesman replied: "I am not at all surprised, Elac leans a bit more to the higher range, and that suits perfectly with the warmer tone of tube based gear." And there you have it in a nutshell, but it's only your ears that can decide so go listen yourself if you have the opportunity of a store that got ELAC nearby. :)

I have the ELAC Debut B 6.2 speakers. They are around the $300 price point depending if you can find them on sale. My only complaints are that they lack a bit of low end, finishes, and magnetic grills. Other than that no need to change anything else. Not really as full sounding as id like in the low end. One solution. Make the Debut B 8.2 and around the $400 price point! Make sure they are available in the U.S. I would buy them in a heartbeat. Someone let him know so he can do it!

It seems like you can't find a good affordable pair of bookshelf or midsize speakers with 8" woofers anymore. They used to be pretty common.

Then I'd look for some nice deals on the Uni-fi bookshelves. I went from the Debut B5 to the Uni-fi's and they have more of everything, great low end and better transparency. It's a three-way speaker and pretty amazing at the price.

I would still prefer a non AMT. Traditional design. They are late in the game of AMT's and costly as compared to others with Ribbon Twitters. They should now focus more on Activizing Unif5 ranges rather than bringing in more new models each yr and consolidating.

Will these be available in USA if yes when? What price class? What are the driver compliment for each speaker and how many models in each line and finally who r these speakers for? Nice try though.

Carina will be released this summer in the US. No word if Vela will be released in the US. Carina bookshelf is $1,200 for the pair and floor stander is $2,400 for the pair. Center channel price is not finalized. If you notice in the video the floor stander, bookshelf, and center channel are there and I asked him if there were 5.1 applications. He said yes, but the subwoofer isn't designated for a specific line. So if you paid attention in the video, you would see what speakers were in the line. He only wanted to talk about Carina because that was the line he updated and that's what he talked about. He stated the crossover point is 2.8kHz between the woofer and ribbon tweeter which is higher than normal being around 2kHz for an aluminum dome tweeter. Different speakers are for different people and to say who these are for is something I can't even begin to get into when people are around and want demos but can't listen to anything because I'm shooting an interview that's giving the back story from the person that actually designs the speaker. All the info you want can be found online elsewhere. What you can't find online anywhere else is what his challenge was when updating this speaker line and his method of doing so.

The man can talk and it would be foolish to interrupt him when he's sharing his knowledge. It's not like there was a ton of dead air in this video. A.J. knew what he wanted the public to know and he said it.

BTW don't worry about other people waiting just ask relevant questions about the product he wouldn't mind, the speaker market is very crowded and specs sales speakers furthermore I paid close attention to the awkward interview of you fanboying out over Andrew and why he named elac's speakers after navel ship themes, which is so interesting it will compel everyone to purchase these products I'm sure . its nice to know that you don't provide us with product details but rather company anecdotes . . as you put it we should search the internet if we want to know about product info, so why do we bother watching u.

@@jollyroger3778 They are priced above the Uni-Fi's and below the Adantes...not whatever you called them. 😂 Frequency response is 46hz-30khz. This is just CES coverage not a review. What's your issue with this video or this KZbinr really? If you can do better, than go and do it. Aren't you spending a lot of time complaining about and criticizing someone else's work? Just try it yourself one time and we'll see how good your video comes out. I'm not upset or angry, just telling you honestly. It's easy to criticize from the sidelines. This man owes you nothing but you're acting as if he does.
