Great review! I recently downsized to these Elac Debut 6.2 speakers for my living room and absolutely enjoy their sound quality. The bass is not obtrusive and the treble and mid-range response are just right for my ears. I purchased five Spanish instrumental guitar CDs and these mellow tracks sound very clear with the Elac speakers.

I met Andrew Jones, and he told me his method for woofer burn-in. Instead of higher tones for endless hours, he said that he gets better results using a lower tone (I use 30 Hz), with a healthy (not ridiculous) dose of volume/cone movement, for a shorter period of time. I do one minute on, one minute off. I repeat it 10 or 15 times. Even just that little bit of exercise makes a BIG difference in the fullness of the sound. For mids and highs, I use "Hey Laura" by Gregory Porter, played at an elevated level. 10 times through that tune, and once again, it makes a TON of difference. Use clean power (and lots of it, with plenty of headroom), and you'll be amazed at how these two "workouts" improve your sound.

I agree, the bass was a little weak when I first got them, but over time it has really gotten better . I listen to them at lower levels and the elac's work great.

No one should judge a good speaker until played loud and broken in. Bad speakers just wear out too fast, dont get better much.

I upgraded from some questionable cheap Polk T15 speakers in my computer room/office to these and they are amazing. I almost feel they are wasted in my small room, and could sound great in my den. Love the very smooth sound and nice midrange. Yeah, a subwoofer would be needed in a larger room perhaps, but in my little office, they give plenty of bass. And the price was really nice.

Yeah, i expected bass to be a lot worse, honestly. I wouldn't be surprised if it could outperform most smaller driver (but more expensive) rivals such as B&W 607 or Dali Zensor 1.

Nice, detailed & to the point review. Considering B6.2 needing a better amplifier to sound its best & relatively low bass, will it be a better & cheaper audio quality sound solution if instead, I go for KEF Egg actives & an added subwoofer? Please help.

Thanks Nirenkumar! Each to their own but personally I would always go with 2.0 in opposite to the 2.1. I would honestly advise you staying away from mentioned active speakers - it doesn't look good from Hi-Fi standpoint. Consider buying some used amp like mine NAD 320BEE - it is remarkable amp that you can buy dirt cheap nowadays.

I don't think so. They are very specific indeed. I would have to listem them once again now (it's been a while since I've had them). Subjectivley, I have impression that it's predecessors (685 S2) had better sound with less harshness in treble.

I have a pair of these bad boys along with a Yamaha NS SW300 sub driven by a Denon AVR. It just blew me away. The sub completes the Elac's lack of punchy bass. I have set the SW crossover at 80 hz.

I think your opinion and Indepth talk, was very good. At present i am using a Arcam FMj amp along with a Marantz CD6006. My speakers are Wharfdale Dimond 10.1 . So back to my point i have heard Dynaudio Emit 10 [the old version] and think they were fabulous sound. Now these Elac B6.2 may be just what i need to replace the 10.1. Have you a opinion on my choice. I would like your ideas on my choice. Many thanks Gerald sould wales UK

Thank you! Diamond 10 series was nice, had 10.2s. Honestly I would like to listen few other speakers to give my fullest recommendation but (especially regarding the price) I think that Debut B6.2 is a very solid choice. Perhaps, also take a look at the Debut Reference B6, Wharfedale Evo 4.1 or KEF Q150 (interesting presentation, though sound with this one will be slightly more condensed and a bit smaller).

I would love to my friend but sadly I don't have 10.2s and Q350s anymore 🙁 I'm just a hobbyist, can't keep all of them for myself even though I would like it that way 😄 Still, I made sone reference to KEF Q350s in the video so maybe you'll find that helpful. These are completely different. Personally I would choose Elacs over those (Q350s) any day.

I was going to buy a pair of B&W DM602. then i read a write up of a guy with 802's that had a tweeter that died. he could not find a replacement. new tweeters no longer made, old ones scarce and $$$ on ebay. he had it "fixed" but the repair did not work. Thats when i started thinking that DM602's , being 25 years old pose a hazard in terms of being unfixable. now im looking at Elac 6.2 which do not have the age issue.

Hm strange I wouldn't call the elacs bright at all if anything I feel like they can use a bit more sparkle and they are just super relaxed (which I love by the way) I've been living with them for a few months and they were my first speakers and I love them
