I’ve been looking at your earlier video about making a photo book and this advanced version popped up on my feed today - tbh I was going to watch it anyway as it’ll make the info stick in my head lol

Thanks a lot for the tutorials! Apart from technics in Publisher I learnt something else interessting. I realized, that the direction of the title on the back (spline) goes top-down, but it seems there are cultural differences. In Germany the title goes normally button-up. I verified it. Almost all my german books are going from botton-up and my english books go top-down. I never realized it before. I have some novels, where I have the english original and the German translation and one can find these there. Very interesting. I have one exception. That's a Physics lecture book from Springer press in German and it goes from top to bottom. Maybe, such kind of books follow the "english rule" but I cannot verify it yet 🙂

Elaine, thank you very much for this and the other video about photo books. It was exactly the tutorial I was waiting for. Now I can go on with a couple of projects that has been on hold for some time :-) You also clarified a few things that I did not understand before! I have a friend that is a professional book designer. He took a look at Affinity Publisher and said he is not able to use it because it does not handle footnotes autimatically. Any way to do it? It has to organize itself if you move pages around or delete parts of pages etc.
