I bought two of these lock sets, one contemporary and one traditional, to replace the standard deadbolts on two of my doors. First, I was surprised at the quality of these lock sets given the low price. They are over half the price of Kwikset or Schlage. I have used Schlage digital deadbolts in other installations and these are of equal quality.

As always, I read several positive and negative reviews on a product before coming to a decision about purchasing. The negative reviews for this deadbolt lock, I suppose, includes purchasers who are only replacing existing deadbolts along with purchasers who are installing it from scratch by drilling the holes and slots required for the deadbolt to mount and the holes required for the bolt to slide closed. If you are installing for the first time you may want to consider using a carpenter or someone who has done it before as very precise drilling is required especially for the bolt to slide without hanging up. If your simply replacing your existing mechanical deadbolt with this electronic one, the process is dead simple and almost anyone should achieve success as I did.

I might have to factory reset, which means having it determine whether its a left hand or right hand door. The first time I did this it gave me a lot of trouble. I followed written instructions as part of my professional life, so this should have been simple.
