Could you please tell how have you made the two air streams flow without inter-mixing?

Looking at other pictures of this I don't think they did. However you should be able to do a decent job of it using brushes as a soft barrier or forming the drum and dividers so that very little air mixes. I'm more curious what kind of nitinol they used - is it a standard foil? Edit: found the answer. They used the super elastic variant of nitinol foil (or wire), the kind with an activation temperature below room temperature. Unfortunately, this kind is also horribly expensive and the experimental setup shown probably cost at least a thousand dollars, just for the nitinol.

The cooling could be channel transferred, but it feels like there could be a better design for this...maybe self contained piston tubeshotting but lot more complicated. System wear seems to be a building factor here
