This is the song that made me, a child raised on classical music and the occasional oldies radio, decide that maybe music with drum sets was something I should include in my life. It will always hold a special place in my heart. That said, watching this video while trying in vain to fall asleep was a terrible, terrible idea.

I LOVED Richard Jupp. He was a truly extraordinary drummer. the first time I saw these guys (opening for Doves, in Washington DC) my friends and I couldn't take our eyes off him! PERFECT timing, but like the rest of the band, not flashy or prone to showing off, he really propelled them through their set. So sorry he retired from touring, I hope they work together in the studio again, at least. ARE YOU READING THIS, GUY??? MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

An amazing band with substance and integrity. Not many UK bands like this left. A few other who seem to be battling the commercial sludge are Radiohead, Tricky, PJ Harvey, Portishead, Massive Attack, Unkle, Scroobius Pip, Jamie Woon, The XX, AllFlaws

I saw Elbow live in Manchester a few years ago at the Apollo, incredible, Brilliant night. Saw Muse live 3 times, twice @ MEN and at Earls Court. MEN was the most incredible live music experience I have ever had. I heard MUSE in the car the other day and nearly cried at how weak and "canned" they sounded. I don't really remember why I had a dig at Elbow, so I'll let that one go, Sorry Chaps! But as for the other lot, they've landed the Olympic Song. RIP: MY HEROES I blame Kate Hudson.

@coltsuperocean10 I LOVE Elbow - my absolute favorite discovery in music of the last few years. I still have to love and respect U2 more for doing it more consistently for a FAR longer period of time than Elbow. But I hope to still be getting great music out of Elbow in 20 years time - and THEN we can discuss who was better.
