I love Elbow. They’re so good, so creative. Lovely creative lyrics, and they’re not all done-up. They’re just normal people who let the music speak for itself.

Seems to be written for my grand-daughter who lost her mother at age 2 1/2, being raised by my son as a single dad. I know it wasn't, but it strikes me so. To light her mother's cigarette. Her mother smoked, too. A world that doesn't even know how much it needs this little girl... We all need her. And she will make it be Magnificent!

Damnation...I can't listen to this song without totally *losing* it. Utterly and completely BRILLIANT...the guitar, the bass line, the drums, strings..and those lyrics...absolute PERFECTION. Why this can't be played on mainstream radio is mystifying. I keep listening to it over and over and all it does is make me want to queue it up again and again. Bravo gentlemen...BRAVO.

Magnificent Elbow Lyrics This is where This is where the bottle lands Where all the biggest questions meet With little feet stood in the sand And this is where The echoes swell to nothing on the tide And where a tiny pair of hands Finds a sea-worn piece of glass And sets it as a sapphire in her mind And there she stands Throwing both her arms around the world The world that doesn't even know How much it needs this little girl It's all gonna be magnificent, she says It's all gonna be magnificent This is where it all began To light your mother's cigarette And to go to touch her hand And my heart There defrosting in a gaze Wasn't built to be that way Suddenly I understand There on the sand Throwing both her arms around the world The world that doesn't even know How much it needs this little girl It's all gonna be magnificent, she says It's all gonna be magnificent She says It's all gonna be magnificent She says, it's all gonna be magnificent The echoes slow The bottle lands The echoes slow And there she stands
