People actually say "amaze-balls"? (not a criticism, just surprised)

@@kathowed ah groovy, wonder if that's like me. I love outdated slang and I stim a lot (involuntary vocalisations/motions from autism). Definitely have my own set of funny terms that I don't entirely mean to say when I say them. :)

Can’t stop playing this one. To me it tells the story of being in a bad relationship where she can’t stop cheating but he knows it and allows it in the hope that she will see sense in the end, but he has finally had enough, take your seven veils and sail the seven seas is a beautiful way of saying “do one” and don’t come back. Brilliant!!!

This is the first song out of the 4 songs released that I really like. I LOVE Elbow, tied for my favorite bands, but I am sorry to say I wasn't thrilled about the first 3. But I'm REALLY liking this one and I think it has potential to be one of their many gems. EDIT: The other songs are growing on me! But this is gorgeous Guy and Elbow that just drops you to your knees on first listen...this is special!

There is much more to this song than meets the eye. Seven Veils dance was performed by Salome, a daughter of a known adulterer who was fascinated by John the Baptist. When her adoration of him became apparent he told her to stay away and get God in her life, that she would never kiss his lips. King Herod saw Salome and was smitten. he asked her to perform the dance of 7 veils and she refused. He then told her she could have anything she wanted if she did the dance. Well, she did it and said she wanted John the Baptist's head. Herod refused believing John was a genuine prophet. She reminded him of his obligation and he granted her request. Once she got the head she kissed his lips and began talking to it like he was alive. Once Herod saw this he had his guards kill her.
