@tubbybubbyy2 жыл бұрын
Not to detract from ongbals skill, dudes a god, but this attack can be rolled relatively consistently if you have the timing down well mentally. The hitbox lingers for a very short amount of time, so as long as you can get sort of close just purely off of memory and guessing when it'll go off it's not too bad to roll. I can pull it off about 80% of the time and I'm rather bad and haven't practiced the boss much
@irregularkhun2 жыл бұрын

@blinktgaming2 жыл бұрын
@@tubbybubbyy when you’re up close, it’s probably hard to watch his hands since they’re sometimes off screen (as this video shows). I found it easier to go by the clicking of his jaw. You can rewatch ongbal’s video as many times as you like to get the timing down on how many clicks of his jaw he does before attacking, which is a bit different on the way up and on the way down. It can easily be felt as a rhythm and is more generous than you think.

Hey you probably won't see this but I recently beat rykard with shields only. If you plan on beating rykard with a club you can do first phase with just a club. Then you can beat his second phase with carian's retaliation on a shield, you can actually deflect the flaming skulls that fall from the sky in his second phase. With carian's retaliation it parries magic then shoots a glinstone phalanx. I bashed his face in with a shield the whole first phase so you could also do that with a club. You can hit him after his 2-3 bite attack and his lunge bite.

Mild spoiler alert: Really hate the fact that they've reused this boss later on in the game. Lost any kind of significance after that IMO. I have no problems with fighting godskins, crucibles, erdtree sentinels etc. multiple times, but Astel's design gave me the impression that this would be a unique experience, so I was a bit disappointed. Would rather fight a burial tree watchdog gank than have this fight be copied.
@reNINTENDO2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that really surprised me. How does the lore even explain that away? And it's odd the hypothetical "legit" Astel is the easier of the two fights. I understand reuse for a game this large, but if they were going to do it for a Legendary boss fight, I would think the climax quest boss fight would be the more complete one moveset wise.
@AceAviations22 жыл бұрын
I'm 99% sure that it's an H.P. Lovecraft reference, in particular "The Mountain of Madness", you have a nearby ruin inhabited by people and creatures that have gone mad (different reason I know, but the status is called Madness you know). Then in this frigid snowy environment located near a mountain you have this man-made cave where you have enemies that teleport in through small singularities and a cosmic being that looks like it was ripped from a Lovecraft story as the boss, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the name of the tunnel was also a Lovecraft reference. However this fight, and its reuse are bosses that I absolutely despise all because of one attack, the teleporting insta-kill attack that is pure bullshit for being an insta-kill in a series not known for those unless you're doing a low-level run/RL1 or are on the nighter NG+ cycles. Not only that but it's a gamble if you even dodge it, let alone in the second fight with all of the copies.
