It’s actually completely ambiguous and there isn’t a reason for it not the be “15 best” instead of “best 15”. It was especially stupid with the faith video because 15 faith is the cutoff for Flame Grant me Strength, so there are a lot of builds where you probably want 15 faith exactly.

I like the noble swordsman build. The simplicity of a single straightsword is honest work. Alternatively, you could spec strength and two hand a straightsword (ideally the Longsword or Broadsword due to better str scaling). If you want to do busted DPS, just dual wield straight swords, turn your brain off and mash L1.

The biggest draw for dex builds is probably the fact that bullet ashes of war scale better with the stat.

@@ewanjohnston5947 Projectile ashes of war. Hoarfrost stomp, storm blade, etc. I don't know that faith bullet ashes like sacred blade get a boost from dex, though.

Just a note about two handing weapons - Most Ashes of war DO NOT get extra strength scaling from two handing the weapon. That narrows the gap quite a bit between strength and dex for any build revolving around an ash of war. That being said, I do find that strength tends to have more options compared to dexterity. Another place were dexterity can shine is with "bullet" ashes of war. Any bullet ash of war that has a base keen, quality, lightning or cold affinity will scale well with dex.

What do you mean by “bullet”, would unsheathe count seeing as how it’s an instant cast so to speak? I find more options buffing charged or successive abilities and I feel like I’m almost forced into certain types of builds because of lack of talismans.

@@BigBuegi a bullet Ashe of war is any type that does damage with something other than the weapon itself, like a projectile. For example, storm blade or ice spear. The ones that scale with dex have a default affinity of keen, quality, lightning or cold.

Just so everyone knows, while projectile ashes do scale with different stats, they do not decide the damage based off how high the scaling is on the weapon. This is commonly repeated misinformation. An S scaling keen Urumi will do the same damage with thunderbolt as an A scaling keen caestus. Only the amount you have in the dexterity stat (and another hidden silly modifier) decide the damage.

The lightning spear can be gotten early game. You get to the capital via one of the portals in the lake. The one with the regen talisman. Then you use the taunters tongue (which you got from killing the invader in the round table area). You will need to pop a fingers remedy. Wait there till you are invaded and the invader comes up the elevator to kill you. You now have access to the capital. You can then get to the spear by jumping from the roof of the little building right at the base of the spear to the ledge on the right side. It will take you a couple times. Quite and reloaded reset aggro after you get there then climb the spear. It's requires like 60 levels worth the stats so be careful about leveling before you get it. Flies away.

Dunno about you, but best ever starter build is just run for naginata and own the game. Then add any second spear and L1 through the game.

Solid strategy to kill the grafted scion for Ornamental Straight sword is to choose either Vagabond or Confessor and abuse Square Off. It also works out with your stats for Golden Champion later on

I know your probably not taking build requests until the DLC, but if possible, could you make an "Placadusax's disciple" Where you use both dragon breath and lighting incantations, and if possible to throw in the Dragon King's Cragblade or the Bolt of Gransax, or maybe another dragon based weapon, but if that would be impossible/not worth it stat wise, just keep it full caster

You have different attack moves while one or two handing a weapon. Just try it out. In case off a strength build you get a 1.5 Stat multiplier when you two handing a weapon. Maybe you got a massage shown up when you try to hold a weapon but don't have the strength required for it? "Needs both hands..." Something :) Tldr. Strength scaling while two-handing = 1.5 Strength Stat scaling = more damage And btw. your Dex weapon does not do more damage when holding with one hand. - it doesn't matter

New player here, is there a viable build with a sword that does not use mana and is not dual-weild? Something like just a katana or longsword without weapon spells/skills? I really hate managing mana/fp

Could be achieved using Colossal Weapons like the (Gut's) Greatsword you can find in Caelid. Very popular and beginner friendly. Any guard counter builds are great. Keep in mind you're severely limiting yourself. Ashes of War are a big part of this game, so are spells and incantations. Ashes of War needs no level requirements and most of them use very little fp so I would recommend trying them out I always say that a Vigor build is best for beginners picking up the game for the first time. Invest in Vigor (health) and you will have a much more enjoyable time playing the game 😊

There are lots of ways to refund FP and limit the amount of FP you use. I wouldn’t suggest ignoring a major mechanic like ashes of war. That’s what builds are essentially. What ash of war and what weapon/stats you use is the build. But for instance there’s an axe that you can keep in you offhand that refunds FP when you get kills. The best thing you can do without ashes of war is use double curved swords with bleed and just spam jump attacks. Combine that with the claw talisman and the crow armor that both buff jump attacks and lord of bloods exaltation. That’s the only build I’ve had success with that wasn’t focused on ashes of war.

Great builds but I would've have loved to see the NG+ build 9f dual Antspur Rapiers, winged sword insignia, prosthesis, kindred rot, and bloods exulatation. Putting a bleed ash of war on the swords let's them do both bleed and rot and since they are small rapiers they can attack and apply affects really fast. This allows constant stacking buffs and lots of damage and stagger potential.

Just a note to everybody else. Fextralife makes content based on the hype of the game. His website, his crew and himself might be knowledgeable on the basis, but overall they dont know what they are talking about.
