When they patched the attack speed I started looking at the claws again, it was such a desperately needed buff. I love the faith spells, and I really like this AoW so I ended up creating this exact build myself a fair while ago except I used the Raptors Talons because they’re a great looking weapon. Another advantage to this when two handing them is they don’t bounce off of shields or hard skinned enemies, it shreds through their stamina - stoked to see you also rate this build highly! It’s ridiculously good fun - 12/10 experience and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants an engaging melee combat style.

Ive been running Black Flame Blade on the Erdsteel Dagger with the Old Lord talisman and it is a very fun way to play. It does get repetitive but watching that health bar drain like theyre standing in lava is so satisfying

@AaronCano-lm6xs heavy attacking is the playstyle since you have to rebuff often, even with the old lord talisman. I like to run it on dex/faith so I can swap between it with the Black Knife but it works just as well on strength for a bestial hybrid build

@imprettyboredtbh8920 it's pretty easy to setup. Str or dex, whichever you prefer and faith. Plenty of vig and I like at least 100fp worth on mind. Take your physical stat to 50 and faith to 80. Erdsteel from Kenneth, Godslayer seal and book with spell in Stormveil. Ash is best as a utility like endure or Quickstep. Axe and old lord talismans are a must. Other two slots and armor are your preference but 51 poise is obviously recommended Edit: Axe Talisman is not the play. Uncharged heavies make better use of the limited time the buff is active. Switch to winged sword/millicent prosthesis

I used Hookclaws for a recent playthrough. Tried going the occult/bleed route and while you proc bleed a lot it's definitely not the best way to run these claws. That said these weapons are super good. You're build is a great way to run them. For anyone looking for a fun early weapon these are a great way to go.

tip: Flaming Strike scales off strength, not faith, so if you're using this for your primary damage, it's better to go full strength, with just enough faith for your buffs. Weapon imbue should be fire to take advantage of the buffs/potion/scorpion charm( If you're just using this for a weapon buff, then disregard this and go faith if you plan to use a lot of incantations). Ideally at 150 you'd be somewhere around 54 vigor/20 mind/20 end/80 strength/14 dex/25 faith. Obviously you could pump Vigor to 60, and make adjustments to your endurance/mind depending on how much you roll/use manage, these points can be adjusted however you want, the only real major ones are strength/dex/faith, and just enough endurance to have medium roll.

I like them with black flame blade and flame grant me strength. It doubles up to bleed procs and you get fire damage as well. Golden vow really puts it over the top.

I had a feeling this was coming after the Claws video. Funny how Flaming Strike has eclipsed Flame of the Redmanes as the go-to ash of war for anyone who wants to set things on fire.

It would have been cool if they still kept redmanes stronger in some way, while flaming strike could have been a weaker attack, but a pretty cool buff

Good build. I play a confesor with twinblade in blood but with golden bow snd black flame protection go to 60 % damage reducion and with heavy armor go to 70%. Can you maje a build with that incantation?

Playing my first run of Elden ring here appreciate the guides and builds. I was running blasmouth blade but my left finger got tired from spamming L2 so I switched it up. But I don’t understand y we r leveling faith max. Shouldn’t I level my faith to 25 for the buffs and then max the strength since that’s what the weapons scale off of???

So the ability he has for the claws Flame Strike can be made into either a Flame weapon, which would cause to scale its damage based on his strength stat, or he can make it a Flame Art weapon which causes its damage to be scaled based on his faith stat. In this case he chose Flame Art because boosting his faith would allow him to not only cast those two buff spells but also any other faith spell in the game if he wanted. He did it so he could open his options while still maintaining a high damage output. Hoped this helped.

Because you need to put on the flame enchantment. Fire and flame are 2 different enchantments. You can search on YT how to get flame enchantment. Hope this helps because I only found out recently and I've been playing this game for years

"Flame art" primarily scales with faith. "Fire" primarily scales with strength. Just go with whichever one deals the most damage with your build.

I think more offhand builds would be good, an example is my morgotts curved sword with offhand blood antspur raiper. They cover each others weaknesses of range and damage type. I think more combos like that would be interesting.

The initial part of the flaming strike ash of war scales off of the strength scaling of the weapon. Flame art gives an E scaling in strength, it would do more damage if heavy or fire infused. Other than that cool early game build.

To get your claws to burn you need to use the combat art which spreads flames before you the you need to attack the flames with a heavy attack to set your claws aflame.

Also bloodboil is better than Flame Grant Me Strength as a buff if you aren't using fire damage, which in this case keen is better than Flame art for hookclaws, and Rallying Standard hardswap is better than golden vow

You have to farm for Bloodboil and it also has a damage negation penalty unlike FGMS.

Well the damage return is much bigger, and farming isn't a problem. We are discussing how much better bloodboil is. And the damage penalty doesn't matter bcos regardless penalty if your build is good enough you kill the boss before you die

Yeah unfortunately these are the worst Claws you could have pickedfrom, every other claw gets better damage, and in pve length, especially something as insignificant as a Claw's length doesn't matter I was really hoping for a venemlus Fang build as it is objectively better AND can be found early in caelid. I'm not saying your build is bad, it does work well, but I would love an all game venemous Fang build
