Elden Ring - Crimson Dragon Build Breakdown (Faith & Arcane BLEED Build Guide) [Patch 1.10]

Beautiful video. So much style and wisdom packed concisely into 20mins. My spell load out is pretty much the same as yours. To add to what was mentioned, for some reason ppl LOVE to rush into you after a jump Bestial Sling compared to when you are just using it on the ground, letting me initiate Bldflame Talon combos very consistently. (I don’t see any benefit in doing jump-cast animation canceling with this combo; speed feels the same) Another thing I like to do is to lure ppl closer by using Bloodboon & Swarm of Flies > surprise them with Dragonclaw > cancel with Bestial Sling then Bldflame Talon or go straight to Talon. Again, ppl love to rush you after Dragonclaw regardless of whether it hit them or not; they must associate the spell with slow recovery, tempting them to be aggressive in order to regain the momentum they lost. Free-aiming Bloodboon is a must if you want to actually hit it, but it also works well as area denial/control when used on the ground. You can free aim it to the ground just where your character is and immediately dodge the incoming attack to “soften” the opponent towards that bleed proc. Bloodboon on the ground works especially well against aggressive quickstep users as the bleed buildup still apply pressure to them. Another way to increase the relatively low dmg of Bleed weapons is to use AoW Poison Mist (usually on offhand) & Lord of Rot Exultation. If you go for Dex-leaning, you will have access to the beautiful Blood Peeler R2, Guardians Swordspear JR2 > R1, Bloody Helice, Morgots Cursed Sword, Eleonora’s Poleblade, Reduvia and the Rivera Bobera, letting you combining them in goofy offhand setups. Yes Fth/Arc is my fav build how could you tell?

@@ringomandingo1015 Mmm, if you like them you should use ‘em! I personally don’t find those spells very impactful in a build like this one that does already “too much” with its spells. BUT, a Pyro build (so it’s all fire damage) that uses al types of fire incantations (madness, black flame and giants) it’s a pretty cool concept. You just go high on Faith and the base requirements for the weapons you like with flame art affinity.

Thank you! I hope the video is worth the looooong wait :D About the flasks…I usually go 5 red 2 blue for invasions, so 10 and 4, even for my "casters". Having 5 heals is too damn important. But I don't have infinite starlight shards, so FP can be an issue in long invasions, that's why I always have a weapon that don't "require" an Ash of War to be good in 1v2/3.

The banished knight head and champion chest piece combo is my favourite combination to use but really crippled the poise of my builds in earlier patches without the use of heavy armour on legs, hands and bull goats talisman. It made me think back to being in toys r us with my grandmother trying to pick the perfect gi joe by reading the descriptions on the back, and being in chuck e cheese huddled around street fighter or mortal Kombat waiting for my turn clutching my quarters. Hi, quick pedantic correction for the comment at 3:01 about Bleed weapons scaling better with Dex: this isn't always true! It's based on whatever stats the base weapon prefers, i.e. all daggers prefer Dex when Blood infused *except* the Bloodstained Dagger, which keeps the majority of its base Strength scaling (70 STR scaling factor uninfused vs. 66 Blood infused). A Blood Bastard Sword has good Strength scaling while a Blood Forked Greatsword has good Dex scaling, etc. This is also true for Cold and Poison infusions, with Cold usually being ever so slightly worse than Poison/Blood. So, it's very possible to do a STR/ARC build as long as you're picking the right weapons to infuse!

Ayy! Thank your for the feedback! I might not explained myself very clearly in that section of the video. I believed I said “generally” dex scaling is higher on blood infused weapons, but I was referring to my weapons of choice in particular. A lot of the weapons I choose for this character have a slightly better dex scaling than Str, and dex being connected to casting speed, I think it would’ve been better choice overall. But since I needed 25/26 Str anyway (Nightrider Glaive and Crescent Moon Axe), Str was a more favorable choice for me in particular. Again, your comment is true 100% of course.

I decided to switch to DEX over STR for my version of this awesome build at RL 150. Biggest reason is that I just like the Knight GS appearance and range much more than the Banished KGS. I can also use the Bloody Helice and Reduvia too and even ROB if I’m in the mood. I tried not to copy the Banished Knight helmet that all these builds use even though it looks sweet as hell and tried to go for a different look with the altered Raging Wolf set, Crimson Hood, Bull Goat Gauntlets and Scaled Greaves. I am debating even having Faith as a tertiary stat as tbh I am still struggling with pulling off Dragon incants in any situation outside of sneaking up on enemies. I am more of a PVE and Colosseum Duels fan (I suck at invasions) but I’ll keep at it, maybe hopefully I’ll get the timing and opening for dragon incants down. If I still struggle I’ll just pump up Dex and be pure DEX/ARC. It’s just a lot of fun playing with builds I’ve never used before. Thanks again for the video! Yeah, the more dex versed version of this build is still very strong, because you have access to max cast speed easily and it synergies well with a lot of powerful stuff. For PvE Dragon Incantations are super useful in any situation, even more so if your enemies are not weak to blood loss.

I have a very similar build concept with my Arcane warrior but mostly off of my current headcanon of the land of Eochaid. IMHO, Eochaid is where a lot of arcane arts developed. They appear to focus on crimson amber (unlike Erdtree gold amber) their weapons scale with arcane, but add magic damage. I combine this with some of the somewhat "Roman" like armor schemes, Regalia of Eochaid, and blasphemous spells (fire, dragon communion, etc) as, to me, Eochaid is where Rykard was ultimately tempted to blasphemous ways thanks to Tanith. Patches refers to the couple as "Daddy Ambition" and "Lady Blasphemy." I even think the Recusant philosophy derives from a gladiatorial game where "serpents" (or prisoners, criminals, and blasphemers) were pitted against one another wearing serpent-clad iconography and told to fight until only one remained.

Colosseums, Serpents and the theme of “blasphemy” seems really connected with Messner too. Maybe will learn more about Eochaid in the DLC.

I love this build, it feel like a fusion between my two main builds. 1)Fth/Str dragon build lvl 150. I mainly use the magma wyrms scalesword and offhand grafted dragon and its very fun to land grafted dragon AOW. I have 14 arc for theodorix. 2)A bloodflame/thorn build. Lvl 60. Mainly faith with 17 arc for bloodboon. Actually uses fth scaling seals, as both thorns and bloodflame blade enchantment scales off of faith. It's really only a low level build because Thorn sorceries have flat bleed on thorn staff. But it too also utilizes combos with bloodflame to do burst damage. Thorn sorceries are cool, I would recommend playing around with them.

I always wanted to do something with thorns sorceries, I just need to understand how I want my character to be, since they are pretty damn recognizable and distinguished from other spells. Good shit btw, love the Magma and Dragon based stuff.

@@AZAELinvaded I've had the most luck using the ranged one as an ambush tool (When the attack is coming from the ground they tend to panic). Plus it works with vertically pretty decent. Because of how similar they are you can cast the ranged one and bait them into the close range ones. Or alternatively use the close ranged one as a turn and burn, especially since it has some hyper armor. I've got an entire 3 man team all killed by an optimal turn and burn with that spell it's great.

Great video! I was just thinking on how to improve dragon communion builds and I was kind of frustrated with the lack of creativity on suggested builds. I thought dragon builds were pretty much stuck with reduvia and eochaid - your video gives perspective on pretty basic but fun weapons, even with with a str twist.

Thank you! The key here is to KNOW very well what the “meta” is or isn’t, you have to KNOW for sure what are you facing when seeing a player with a certain set up. Builds recognition is one of the most important things in this game PvP. And only after that, chose to make something functional, but never sacrificing the drip and the style.

I'm late to the comment section, but really great break down. I think personally I would favor something like Crucible Tail over Flame of Frenzy despite the difference in utility because I just love how Crucible Tail goes through walls, and since it's a tail swipe it still feels very much like a dragon type of incantation. I also like the strength focus, while it tends to force Radagons Icon, strength heavy bleed builds tend to favor the cooler weapons and have more hyper armor options where as more of a 20 str/40 dex option while dispensing with radagons, gets the Zwei, greatswords and cgs and that's it. Greataxes and NCG are too pog to pass up here. Probably more efficient but I like builds that feel like builds and that's all about limiting your own options in a way that feels interesting. While not entirely related, for Saint Riots "Family" covenant I did make an Omenkiller type build at 60 that incorporated all of the beatial incants in addition to Talons and Boon. I found some interesting interactions even pre 1.1 where I could hit with Talons and then immediately go for Stone of Gurranq to punish attempts to create distance, and later delay it after conditioning the expectation. I feel like the Talons explosion obscured the start up animation of SoG which is the incants biggest weakness and made it easier to hit. Gurranqs Beast Claw also made for a fun wake up. Food for thought as all of these incants could slot onto this build, but obviously at the expense of probably Flame of Frenzy.

Oh for sure! Almost every incant I used is swappable and replaceable with other things. I loved the Tail because it looks like a dragon tail, and it has its utility for sure. I had fun with it in lots of invasions.

@@AZAELinvaded that's true. Other than that I'd only suggest adding a Serpent God Curved Sword. Nice hp tick regen while host and phantoms clear pve and primarily strength scaling. Spawning in with it is nice because you can immediately tell if the party is doing things or not. Curved Swords are super good in 1.10. And it's aesthetically the best looking curved sword in the game.

Oh man, sorry I didn’t include the tears in my vid. Mainly I use Infinite Poise+Negate/Absorb non-physical damage. But I’ve also used the extra hp near death and consecutive hits buff/charged hits buff. Sorry I can’t remember the names right now 😅
